What will you do when finally Debt free

I know there has been posts like these before and id surmise as people free themselves of debt they will be less frequent vistors but in my bored moment in work i like to daydream what treat id give to the family (paid in cash obviously) when im finally free of this ball and chain and im wondering what the current crop of wanabee's would do.
Myself it would have to be an all inclusive holiday that cost more than i would pay for normally , then when we get back im straight on the mortgage free wanabee forum!!!!!

A holiday - I want to travel on the trans siberian express from St Petersburg to Beijing. After that I want to save up to do degrees in the subjects I'm interested in, through the OU.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Once I'm debt free, my first goal is to get saving for the deposit for a house. I'm nearly 30 now and really want to get my foot on the property ladder. but the current £23000 debt aroundmy neck is stopping that dream.

It should take me about 2 years to get out of debt, then another 18 months to get a 10% deposit together for a descent house.

I've been living in rented flat like a student for too longnow. I want a house!!! I want a garden! I want a veg patch and to be able to hang my washing out! But above all, I want to stop paying rent and actualy start building equity in something of value.

Oh, and I'll buy a motorbike too

Nice Ames...id love to travel the world but i have 2 girls in their early teens who would have no interest in that just sun and sea.

You reminded me that its an ambition to learn another language but to be honest do i have to be debt free to start that...
  • oh well, where do I start!!! I'm sooo bad for daydreaming about what I'll do when I'm completely debt free and as it gets closer it's getting worse.

I'm often found staring off into the distance with a wistful look in my eye and a smile. Luckily I found an evening job that I can do pretty much on auto-pilot which frees up time to let my mind wander freely. Ahh bliss

I think the main things are - travel across America, East to West coast.
Take my hobbies back up (that I had to give up when my LBM arrived) which are guitar lessons and martial arts.

Study for my MCSE, then more in the longer term, buy a house and set up my business. Actually I've realised it's more about having the time rather than the money. I can do all of the above things on a strict budget now - all thanks to MSE

The list is growing daily though!! 1 month to go to be debt free.

    Debt-free and Proud!
When I started this journey I wanted to have a holiday when I was debt free some Yoga Holiday to St Lucia

Now I have changed and so have my desires and needs. Now I want simple things, a nice house, a family and a decent car.

Boring I know but being in debt made me realise how valuable those things are.
In Jan 2007 I had a debt of £27,896.00
In October 2011 I paid it off and owned £0.00 - Kinda proud of this!:T

For me, an all exclusive cruise to the caribbean islands. Then tackle mortgage with overpayment (still have 16 years left to pay, but would like to pay off a lot quicker) help my two children pay back student loans from uni, and save, save, save for retirement so hubby and I can have a good standard of retirement, God willing.

Not boring at all...you sound very switched on. I have all of the above its just having the Debt makes me feel insecure about the future...the older i get i realise that life is for living. Plan for the future but try not to worry about it! Im sure you could do all of the above PLUS the Yoga holiday.:T
