Hmm, MIL, you really want to meet mine..we nick named her the Wicked witch of The North East. After 23 years she is beginning to mellow, but in the early days she would scream, wail and chuck stuff at us. A shoe and a whole plate went at me when we first got married. she threatened to hit me in a pub, because we couldn't spend christmas with them, i told her she got one go and the rest were mine, hasnt tried chucking anything since.
In church, she screeched because her fav son, hadn't got a button hole, he had given it away in the pub! bear in mind they never paid towards the wedding, and we bought their suits and had to buy the bloody shoes for said son, so you can imagine the looks she got..the church was full of flowers too, so he could have taken any one of those.
Anyway, i digress, but they can be beaten in the end...remember you have youth and grandchildren on your side, a wonderful achievement! I can't put myself in your shoes, but can empathise...we are still standing and so will you be, with your lovely hubby at your side...good news in anyones books.
How are preparations coming on?Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Aww Bob, join the ranks of WITCH (Women Irritated by The Carer of Hubby) (okay, it's a stretch, but see what you can come up with)
Preparations nearly there, paid for DJ this morning, found a place in town doing tiaras for a tenner (just waiting for a silver one to come in) and MIL and his Nanna are taking care of the F-ing Lunch, just leaving them to it. Found a lovely little suit for DS, so just need to find OH's suit and my veil & shoes now and all set.
So chicks, today I'd like to turn our thoughts to Mrs Dawn. She's having a horrible time of it thanks to a cheating lying toerag hubby, and we need to rally round. You'll be fine love - you survived once, you can do it again, only this time you can do it better, cos you've had the practise. The sofa is too good for a louse, and as for the lass - well, love, at least you can spell your name with all the right letters, and have the intelligence to spot a liar when he's right in your face. Give this lady some hugs people.
Which leads me to thinking - I wonder what my ex (AKA He Whose Balls Shall Swell To The Size Of Melons) is doing? If past performance is anyting to go by, as you're reading this, he'll be sat in a darkened room, fag in one hand (if not something a little more *ahem* herbal) bottle of blue WKD on the other, playing some mind-numbing computer game in a pair of skanky pants; because God chose not to give him much in the way of brains, gumption or indeed endow him with the intelligence of a wet bathmat. What a classy bloke.
Today has been a cheap day - all my bills sorted out in readiness for the Start of The Budget (next week). Got my weekly buss ticket, paid nursery and updated my click sheet. I did a storecupboard tea, got a batch of mango chutney on (to use an elderly mango crying out to be granted euthanasia - which after 2 hours is still not looking particularly reduced...hmm....). Got loads of stuff sorted for Ebay, but am having to wait to borrow a camera, as I know stuff without photos doesnt sell as well.
So, sitting here with a headache made up of 1 third headcold, 1 third wanting to kill Mr Dawn on behalf of ever decent woman out there, and 1 third sugar induced from munching a packet of choc misshapes. My excuse is that a £1 bag of chocs is cheaper than having to spend £xxdreadtothinkxx on having dress taken inPlans for tomorrow include getting OH's suit, facing The Killer Gym Bunnies and having an interview at local college for beauty therapy course.
I'm off to get a cup f tea, and crack on with knitting DD a cardy for the wedding - determined to do at least one thing for my own wedding lol. I will NOT spend all night on MSE, nope. Not at all. Well...maybe one more minute....
Tip for today - Today look back at how you were feeling when you started your DFW jourey. How did you feel? How did you sleep? Were you fatter, or thinner; how did your household run? Did you simply get up, work, have tea, tv then sleep? how is your life different? Sometimes it's good to see your debt as more than a number - your DFW life has probably impacted more than you think. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Afternoon chicks, not been posting as it's all getting aa bit busy, with 9 sleeps til D Day (the d standing for Doing it Properly This Time).
Not been bad today, went to bingo last night and won a tenner, and my friend Fran (the inventor of The Fran Plan) won £80, and we split it 3 ways as per usual. So not doing too badly that way! So been making teeny adjustments to my budget even looking ahead in diary for b'days etc to prepare for. Made a overpayment on my gas, thanks to levering the precious £2 coins out of OH's pockets (how dare he try to hide them...I always find them....my £2 coin sense is tingling!!!) so that's down to a shade over £20, and will hopefully be cleared in a week or so. so that's 1 out of 5 gone, counting down to the 'Biggy' (Barclays, £19k). It's all on interest free, so taking out the smaller ones first, then the big one as a long haul slog.
My mango chutney that was put on the other day is finished - 2 hours on high my bottom - tok an extra all nighter on low, and I'm still not convinced it's sludgy enough, but it tastes good. Only problem is I now am wondering what to put it in....um.....five thousand baby food jars?
So my list for the rest of today involves writing to Thomas Cook - the tour operator of the devil - to see if they'll give me my £300 back. There's the usual house stuff; laundry, change the beds, hoovering and dusting (old style, natch) and will try for a batch of mash to go in the freezer - my potatoes are looking a bit elderly. Veil and tiara I like is ending on Ebay tonight so will have to remember to go via Pigsback or somewhere else that gives the best cashback - logged into Pigsback today to find 1000 ponts there for signing up to gala, so happy days, that's another voucher for the Xmas envelope. Current total - £40 in paper vouhers plus £10 credit on amazon. Niiiice. Bought DD a new leappad for this Xmas already, as saw it mega cheap in TK Maxx. Cue much Mr Burns type hand rubbing Exxxxcccellent.
Sp go, have a cheap day guys, nearly payday for most of us, and a whole new month in which to be frugal, pennypinching and tight.
Tip for today - I know it's early, but someone on here said the other days 'only 6 payslips to Xmas'. And that scares me. So why not sit, make a bit of a list and see how much money you need to put aside for Xmas - some people still don't add them onto the budget, then panic. It's a very weird feeling to be thinking about wrapping paper in July, but you'll thank yourself when you can be smug to your mates at having Xmas done, dusted, paid for and under the tree come November - especially when they moan they're still paying off last Xmas. 'Haven't you heard!? DFW is all the rage Darling'.....

hey hey hey BOB - some of us normally start planning christmas in january thank you
Only reason I didn't this year is that I needed to get through the wedding first and now... well I'm kinda wondering whether to bother... it'll probably be me and OH as it's our last christmas without kids (fingers crossed!!!) and Next year when there is a sproglet then ALL the family will insist on us coming to Denmark... *sigh*
Off out tonight so am going to try to get some stuff on fleabay - have 5 items on there at the moment but CERTAIN I can find more around here somewhere... hmmmm

oK, i would have...as in the past i saved up for a hamper...not any more, as reckon i could
A. do it far cheaper
B. make it nicer
c. those companies now scare me.
so i suppose in a way i have technically started, as i have cards, wrap etc sorted..just didn't want to think about it...........
I think i will do cake hampers, and goodie stuff for everyone this year.
Dare i ask...are you enjoying trying for the baby? ...........runs...........Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

:rotfl: no BOB DH is hating it
No honest he is! Especially I as went and blew £30 on a REALLY nice corset on fleabay which arrived this morning... bet he'll positively need anti-depressants tonight when I squeeze into it
Although at the moment we're only practising... I've only just come off the pill so we're gonna be careful for a month or so to allow my system to return to normal before REALLY trying
As for the cake hampers... The one for Casa Del Tine should contain chocolate cake in case you were wondering!
As for christmas... I found a load of beeswax plates in the loft from when years ago I was having a crack at making candles... will see if they are still pliable enough to make candles - if not will melt them down as still have a mould too...So that can go into my "hampers" for the select few I decide on making something for

Afternoon guys (well, evening)
Very, mega quick, I'm-not-here type post tonight, as a) majory tired after family fun day - more t post on that later as you'll all want to know about me on the bull (and if yu don't tough luck cos it was hilarious and b) I have a bolero to knit for the wedding - back done so just 2 fronts, 2 sleeves and sewing up (urgh) but major paic, as it's the only thing I'm able to contribute to my own s*dding wedding, so less a bolero and more a matter of principle. Might be a short sleeved jobby if I run out of time.....
Bob - Xmas is not so much organised - I'm not ,I just tell OH it's for Xmas so he doesn't nab all the HMV vouchers for whatever shouty band he's into.
Mrs T - I'm sure poor Mr T hates coming home to be in for a night of practice. Poor man, bet he's frantically checking work for extra hours to stop away.....and the missus in a corset...the horror....the inhumanity.....Let me know on that green baby wool
Hampers are an excellent idea, that way you can get lots of little things and build them up over a period of time. I got a lovely wrapped hamper from Fran on Xmas, 2 glasses, and a bottle of bubbly with chocs. She did Ash a wonderful one with bath stuff in it, and it was so appreciated, as I knew she'd spent time on it, not just bobbed down to Argos and got whatever. I love doing them, and thinking about the person it's for. Cheesy, but small things make simple creatures like me happy.
Speaking of which I got 5!!!!!! £2 coins today, but was having such a good time with DD I spent all bar 2 on her - face painting (, donkey rides and bouncy castle. I'm losing my edge.....
So, more later when I can justify not knitting. Have a cheap, happy evening, and if I don;t speak to you all tomorrow, a NSD then too.
Tip for today - don't lose sight of the important things. You might be focussing on your debt, but don't forget there's a life to be lived as well. Take pleasure in the little things, and try to balance not paying top whack with not missing out on the important things - £2 on a donkey ride had the DFW in my head screaming 'Not the precious £2 coins!!' but the look on my daughter's face perched on top of Ronnie the Donkey was worth a visit from Rossendales ten times over.

The poor love, i am sure he is hating every minute..but as kevin and perry say, you must do it at least once, in order to produce the perfect Dj:rotfl:
I only do fruity cakes, but if you are suffering from morning sickness at the time i will accomodate your whims:DBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
