Gawd, I bobble off this thread for acouple of days and blinkin 'ell, it's all gone bertie.

Soo the loan debt thingy, bum re that, dunno what to say other than we can probably collectively find your ex's address, there are ways and means, to be found on other threads, thus you can pass on the info mebbe and mebbe get the debt halved. But I'll leave that one for now as you have the wedding to [STRIKE]get stressed about[/STRIKE]plan.

    Re baby....he's gorgeous, well done.

Re wedding, hoping everything slotting neatly into place for you.

Re rash, hoping it goes soon, not what you need at the mo.

Re the shoes, have you tried TK Maxx, there's one in hull in st stephens, they always have purty shoes.

    Rightio best go.

    Cheers for now Triker.

    Afternoon all

well, some good news chicks - last night went to bingo and won £100! Split 3 ways but still enough to pay off my smallest debt! So was extremely pleased with my little dabbing self.

I get home to fins that OH had turned his nose up at the seafood paella I made, and ordered in a Dominos. Bang goes the plan of paying off British Gas early! Still, it gets paid off next month anyway, would have been nice to get one paid early....Still...

I signed up to mirror bingo today, they give you a free tenner, so thought I'm not losing anything, and if I win it's free money - think you need to deposit something in order to withdraw though.

Been round a few dressmakers to see if anyone can alter my dress - all looked at me like I was mental when I told them it was 2 weeks off. It needs a good 2-3 inches taking in at the top, and inch or 2 off the waist and the hips need taking in about 5, as CJ flared the skirt off too early, but that isn't a must. We thought of ways to 'bodge it', basically use a shed-load of costume tape, and tape it to my bra to stop the top gaping, but not much I can do about the eaist. Hitting the remaining seamstresses Monday, so cross your fingers for me chicks.

He's finally told his mother she's interfering - well, told her I was getting upset over it, but only about this lunch (or 'That F-ing Lunch) as I call it. She's now suggested....CANCELLING IT!!! ARGHARGHARGH Ihopeshegetsahorriblemigraine. Now she wants us to cancel it, and just spend some time with my family as they're leaving midarvo to get back to London. They can then go and see to their dogs or whatever and come back for the reception. I give up; I bl**well give up.

Apparently she's apologised for messing us around about it - her excuse is that her mum messed hers up - whch in my book is no excuse, or apology. She's coming over tonight to show us DS's outfit, so will chat about it tonght. I'm gearing up for a confronttion - she's ruined this wedding for me - I'm not looking forward to it, in fact I'm sorry we're even doing it at all. If it wasn't so close I'd cancel the whole bl**dy thing.

But apart from that a decent day - underspent by over a tenner on teh weekly shop, so looking good for the 'fficial' start to the new budget at the start of next month, plus OH has been given a grand a year pay rise, so joyous feelings at that.

Hoping your days are filled with money off coupons and freebies through your door.

Todays tip - Go to the library and get out Mrs Beetons Household Management book. Read it and learn. I collect old household management books, and am amazed by what women of yesteryear had to get by on. We think we have it bad, but at least we have washing machines, fridges, tumblies (if it's not sunny) and Asda to deliver our packaged, long life goods. You were expected to put a 3 course dinner on the table using only an old shoe, a wrinkly apple and a packet of dried egg. No hoover, no stardrops. Curry powder was an exotic ingredient. The mind boggles.
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Current Pay Off Target : £1500
  • Hope today has been fruitful for you, as in more money made and dress sorted. I often put old shoes for dinner on table and with this credit crunch malarky it will be old sandals....lol

Awww hun, I do hope you manage to get the dress sorted - my wedding day was ruined by wedding dress stress (I hated the damn thing - it didn't fit right and was sooo badly made). It spoiled the wedding, but it didn't spoil the marriage. :)

before my wedding, I was storing my dress at the wedding shop as we lived in a cottage and my mum was worried about it getting damp and/or cobwebby.......anyway, three weeks before the wedding, the shop went bust and the owners did a runner WITH THE STOCK!!!!!!!

Considering that the end of June is prime wedding season, the local police station were inundated with sobbing brides and angry grooms trying to get hold of their dresses. and of course it was too late to get replacements.....and in any event we had paid for the originals and were just storing them, so couldn't afford to buy anything else!

Thankfully my Dad came up trumps and found the scoundrels........we traced them to a grotty flat and turned up....gently persuaded them to hand over my dress.....and lots of other people (work colleagues) etc helped us with the other stuff we couldn't get back from them like accessories, petticoats, pageboy outfits etc.

Otherwise, I would have been getting married in my joggers

Hope your weekend has improved xxx

Bah humbug - MILs.... hope it all went well...
Mine is being a pain at the moment... thankfully OH deals with her and he's as fed up as I am. They borrowed money from us quite a while ago, then again at the wedding and they were supposed to pay us end of this month... well... the money from the sale of their house in the UK STILL hasn't been sorted by their solicitor alledgedly and they are skint. OH put his foot down and said no more, they are grown people and we can't keep bailing them out!
His sisters wedding is coming up soon and we'll go to that but OH doesn't want to - he doesn't like his BIL to be - then again he never paid back OH the money he footed for his bail years ago ;)

Since the wedding DH has been far more money savvy thankfully - I guess the fact we're actively planning for a baby means he's had to wake up and start prioritising us more. Not saying he didn't before, but it's more kinda of "charity begins at home" type thing really :)

I'm all for helping people out, but I'm getting to where I will give them the tools to get it sorted, not actually sort it for them :)

    I digress...

Let us know how the dress is coming on!!!
