Not scary, confusing at first but not a massive deal. I find that a lot of people who have done the move are very 'anti-immigration' - they make out that you shouldn't go for it, and that's it's really tough. Personally I'd rather see people succeed if that's what they want, but it can be a longwinded process, and a bit risky.
But from my research if you have your noggin on right, and a bit of gumption then it's not that big a deal. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

My 3 work visas for the US were hard enough to obtain - they even interviewed me in Russian for the first one to check I wasn't lying about my degree! I was half expecting to be asked to answer the questions standing on my head though, so it could have been worse (just) :rotfl:
edit: oh and you should SEE the dirty looks my passport gets from US immigration with all the Russian and Serbian stamps and visas, thank god they've yet to spot the Kosovo ones :rotfl:2007 Bronze Olympic Challenge: Total £1057.34 :jDFW Nerd 269: Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0 -
I take it back, that IS scary!! For the visa we're going for (L1) we just have to have business here, business there and a shedload of paperwork. You know how the Yanks looove that paperwork. Oh, and the patience of a saint, but if you want it, it's not that bad. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

[US Immigration] Reason for visist?
[Mr Obi] Imperialism!! We're here to take back the colonies. Oh, and who do we talk to about 300 years of back rent?
[Me - slinking into a corner and trying to die]
Mr Obi has threatened this next time we go. I told him it might not be the best way to get them to give us a visa. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

You'll be ok if you get an immigration official with a sense of humour (no, honestly, they do exist) - I once went through US immigration at Newark airport wearing a t-shirt saying "New Jersey: Only The Strong Survive"! Only after arriving did I realise quite how much that could have backfired...

Well chicks, we've got our bank charges money cleared, and sitting there nicely in the bank. OPf course, it all has to go straight out again, but it was nice to see it there for a few days. I thought I'd feel bad having to pay it out, but it made me feel uite good. Loads of bills got ticked off, and now I only owe a few suppliers a few hundred, so it's a lot less worry.
We went ahead and made Little Taste Of Home a limited company today, so our year countdown to when we can apply for our visa starts here! I wonder how much I can knock off my debt before that happens? It's a real kick up the backside, as for me it's not technically a year, whith the appearance of Mini Me in December, so realistically I've got 7 months to get my shop whipped into shape, the online business worrying Mr Branson and everything hunky dory. Do-able, if I keep my furry little butt to the grindstone.
Every thing seems to be going suspiciously well. I wonder what fresh horrors the powers that be are plotting for me. But for today I had a nice lunch, had to opportunity to say 'the balance is a grand? Okay, do you take Electron?' and no stinky old ladies have dared cross my path. As Mr Burns woud say
'eeeeexcellent..........'This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

She was last on 19.07.07 and her signature says 2 weeks to baby so maybe that is why the shop is closed.Save £12k in 25 No 49
