Would it be asking too much for the MSE spy to check on Obi, next time you are passing the wool shop?
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches
Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:
  •

I can't *believe* I read all that, and no posts for the last couple of months from the OP!!

Can our esteemed spy go around to her shop again?! ;)

Okay, okay, you scary stalking people! I got fed up of chucking Moley out my backyard dressed as a cat so I'm baaaaaaaaaaacck.......... mwah haha

Actually I lost my broadband in a house move, and it's been like trying to get a quid out of Gordon Brown trying to get fixed up again. Still 'only' on dial up, but hopefully in the new Year I'll be a super fast broadband chick again. Yay. We forget how slllloooowwwww dial up is until you're forced to use it. It's not so much surfing the Net, as driving a tank through the shallows. Slow, unwieldy and people look at you funny when you tell them.

I'm great, DD's great. LB's great. Had DD's last name changed to his and he blubbed! His mums really pleased, but I notice that since the change she's been a moodly, niggly little mard a*se. Hmmm.

But I'm happy, I'm in control, and despite a massive rent arrear bill on my shop taking me back to a few tenners off 40k (dontcrydontcrydontcry) I'm cool. Just means I have to find another £200 a week. Not a problem. A challenge. Came up with a few ideas ont he train last night, so at least my brain hasn't deserted me. It's bad to be in debt; it's worse to be in debt and stoopid. Actually it'd be worse to be my ex husband, but it's Christmas, and I'm feeling charitable.

So plan of attack is to sell loads of stuff, and whack that off the itty bitty debts, the £200 ones. At the same time set up some regular income streams (ooh, hark at me) to provide me with the money to make the regular payments. Can't shave the budget any more, and to be honest I wouldn't want to. I can cope with being in debt, and not having a holiday. I can't cope without a weekly bottle of wine and the odd takeout when I just cannot be bothered.

I am glad to see I was missed, and I missed all you guys too. It's a bit lonely and scary trying to get debt free on your own.

    See y'all soon!

PS Tip of the day - Never ever EVER upset your interent provider. You need MSE!!
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Only joined MSE this month but welcome back Obi! So glad to have stumbled on this thread - have just read a few posts and nearly choked on my coffee! :rotfl:

Methinks I've found another thread to feed my MSE addiction. Now if you'll excuse me for a bit ... I have 20-odd back pages to catch up with....:D

    Howdy obi

I joined while you were away and read your entire thread one night - brilliant entertainment, you are a born writer.

I think of you every time I trip over my knitting wool bag. I've got various odd balls bought in sales, mostly nasty pastel acrylics, if you want them for your 50p bin PM me, I'd be glad to send them your way.

  • Thank you so much for such an entertaining thread - have only just found it but have spent most of this afternoon reading it and laughing out loud (thankfully no-one else was home!) instead of doing my nasty scary uni assignments - was in dire need of a laugh, so cheers - and good luck with everything; the shop, DD, LB and Florida, I'm sure you can do it! I'm going to hunt down my knitting needles tonight, good job (for me) I don't live in Scunthorpe, I'd be one of those students spending my loan on lovely wool - as I did on fab English wool while living in Canada, so your idea for the Olde English Wool Shoppe is definitely a good one.

p.s. You could definitely make your millions with a book, I'm a poor student but I'd still definitely buy it! And I don't know Swahili but if you want to insult people in assorted East-European languages then I'm more than willing to help :)
