Houston we have returned to Casa Del Tine after a successful mission! We have Iced Tea, Sangria (poured in glass with ice cubes as can't wait for bottle to chill...) wine making junk and.... A RICE STEAMER!! Get in!
I have been eyeing up the one in Argos for £20 hoping it would go down to £10 as it regularly does and As I was happily hopping round in Lidl (I always get the two mixed up!) there in front of me was... A Rice cooker steamer thing for £10 and it is stainless steel looking and has non stick inner thingy so it's perfect! YAY for me!
And to really top it off I made it home and in JUST in time to salvage my washing from the line before the rain started! *small victory dance*
So... feet up, I'll unpack the shopping in a bit - right now I'm enjoying having a whole day that's not gone wrong!!!
I *ahem* [STRIKE]snatched that up [/STRIKE] bought one of those too, calmly.
BTW it's truly brill.;):DDFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Well I have miserably failed to buy a dress for a wedding but I am sorted for wedding in a month, just need another dress for November so it's not an issue... I DID buy a tea mug from Bodum for £4 (for loose tea which I love but never make a whole pot so never get
) and 2 books on Origami from Books, one for £3.99 and one for £4.99 which isn't too bad I think... There are loads of ideas for boxes you can fold as well as the usual paper managerie
Now I'm off to Aylesbury to go to Wilkinsons for stuff to make wine (yay!) and Aldi for Ice Tea and maaaaaayby some sangria as a treat for meeeeeee! hehehehe
Mrs Tine, you almost make me homesick talking about Aylesbury, that was one of the big towns where I used to live in the UK. The $2 shops here are WELL dodgy. The deal in A LOT of counterfeit stuff eg spiderman stuff spelt spierman :rotfl: . So you can't depend on the quality of the product like you can in a Wilkinsons.I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Well done on the new life Chev, soooo jealous. Our move to Florida is going on in the background, having to do all the background work to make sure we have a good standard of living. We reckon on 4-5 years realistically. Give te Americans chanvce to get their economy working gain lol.quote]
Obi if the US is your dream then fair enough, but you would be amazed by the amount of US expats that are over here, thanking whoever that they got out of the US as it is so bad over there now. Basically from what I have read, if you have an opinion over there then watch out, cos you are standing out from the herd.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do, but I for one would not want to dumb down my children's education THAT much, by moving to the US. And the other thing the US expats are grateful for is not having to pay out $500 - $600 A MONTH for health insurance per person!

Now that I have quoted bits and commented. How is ex OH being about the adoption now? Is that all going ahead ok. And what about the joint debt? I was gobsmacked (having taken a couple of hours to catch up on your diary seeing as it was on about page 48 when I last read it), when you
a)found ex and
b) that he has another life!! Good grief!
hope it works out ok

Personally I'm not that keen on it - used to own a house there and the ex still has it with his new bit of stuff - even worse - found out he's now working in MK so COULD bump into him when at work - !!!!!!!

Hi Chev & Bob, all is dandy ta. Ex is quiet - not heard from the pus-dripping son-of-a-hog since, social worker is coming on the 5th for first assesment. Not happy that apparently they have to tel D that Mr Obi isn't her real Daddy (he's been there since she was 8 months old) and he's furious about it. Why rock the boat?
Yes, Florida is our goal - we're well aware of the health costs, reports on education etc, but we're giving ourselves a few years so the economy recovers, and is it doesn't work out, we can say we gave it a shot. My cousins got on better in the States schools than they did here, so maybe it's dependant on where you go. Australia was another on our list, so you may see us on an island near you!!
But generally things are dandy. Suspiciously so. still, there's a whole day to go at yet, give it time. Today I will mainly be Ebaying, cleaning & pottering, I think. Oh, and putting a coat of wallpaper paste on the now bare kitchen walls to seal them before I slop so paint on. The joys.
So have a cheap day chicks, no spending, you don't need that.
Todays tip: sign up to one survey or click site. If you already di ipoints etc, add another. if you don't, you're missing out on free stuff. Head over to referrals to help a fellow dfw out. You won't notice the addition, and it'll help bring a touch more cash in.This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Hi Obi, very industrious today..i think you should tell social workers that it would be too damaging to say anything and they should respect your wishes! Have a word with seniors in their dept and talk it through first before anything is said.
also with the painting of plaster..it is less tacky if you do a first coat of watered down paint reather than paste..it has worked for me in the kitchen and only needed one coat after..try it! I only do the paste if i am wallpapering.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

To seal the plaster before painting you can use PVA glue in water and just slosh it over with a sponge and leave to dry before paintingDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
