    Sorry not looked back at this post for a while.
    I think airmiles used to charge for tax fuel etc but that is now all included in the miles prices.
    Only extra charge I paid *which was optional) was £20 insurance. Most travel insurance won't replace airmiles in the event of cancellation and I thought it was worth it.
    Was the £20 insurance charge just to cover re-imbursement of airmiles in the event of cancellation, or was that a £20 travel insurance policy that also included protection of your airmiles. I had wondered what would happen if you had to cancel an "airmiles holiday" for any reason.

    Surely this is only one way though...What about the return flights........or have i read the Airmiles site incorrectly...

    It looks as though i may have read the Airmiles site incorrectly and the figures they quote are for return flights.........can someone please confirm this for me please, if 2 of us want return flights to Bankok from a regional airport, the cost is 8500 miles each(return) and if a new user, the total of 17000 miles divided by 120 miles blocks and multiplied by £2.50(the cost of the 120 miles) equals about 355..........

    so i have to spend around £355 to get 2 return regional flights to Bankok...

    Bankok = Zone 6 = 8000 miles
    Regional Airport = 500 miles
    So 8500 per pasenger return.
    x2 = 17000
    / 48 = £344.17 (344.1666666 rounded up to be exact)
  • We have just used £636.50 worth of tesco vouchers and saved around £2000 off a cruise booked thru the Airmiles travel company.

    We converted vouchers using 120 / £2.50 offer. Its not quite 4x worth but the alternative for us was Virgin and they dont accept towards cruises.

    We also looked at using 4x worth towards Virgin package holiday but their prices so loaded to begin with it was better going thru Airmiles.

    Because you are quite limited on times / dates seats are available on flights for Airmiles bookers we felt it was less restricting booking the cruise with them and buying flights ourselves.

    A return flight is only 7000 airmiles ( £291 of tesco cc vouchers at normal exchange rate) - or 4400 ( £183 of cc vouchers) + £195.
    Thanks, I didn't realise it was defaulting to 2 travellers.

    A couple more questions...

    I am only a few £'s worth of clubcards short of what I need to buy 1 return flight. Van I purchase the additional airmiles I need, or can I use my Dad's vouchers to makeup the balance?

    Does a second traveller who is paying the full price have to book separately, or can it be part of the same booking?

    TIA
    Les

    You obviously had to put all these vouchers through in one conversion to get the 120 offer, were they all from the same account... or just same address

    There are lots of variables here
    1) Are you talking about converting from Tesco Vouchers
    2) Have you converted Airmiles before as its 60 miles per £2.50 if you have, but 120 miles if you havent...
    3) How old is the child......will it require its own seat
    4) Are you talking about return trips(i dont know if it makes any difference
    5) Are you flying from a regional airport, which is 500 miles more per person...

    If its a basic 2x 2500 miles = 5000 divided by 120 miles multiplied by £2.50 its around £104 in vouchers

    If its a basic 2x 2500 miles = 5000 divided by 60 miles multiplied by £2.50 its around £208 in vouchers

    If you are flying from a regional airport then its 500miles more each at £125 and £250 respectively.

    If your child is classed as an adult(seat wise) ...then it will be half as much again on each example....

    Just found this.....hope it helps, from Airmiles Help, altho it doesnt stipulate the age that an infant becomes a child

    Q: Do you offer discounts for infants and children under the zones Scheme?
    A: Yes. When you book using your Airmiles as full or part payment, Infants will receive a 90% discount and children receive a 10% discount on the zone price. Each infant must be accompanied by an adult as the airlines impose a strict 1:1 infant :adult ratio. There is no limit on how many children can travel on a zonal fare however, they must be accompanied by an adult. When paying fully in cash, any child discounts are as per the Airlines fare rules which will stipulate if a child discount is applicable. Again all children must be accompanied by an adult.

    Just found out an infant is 0 to 1, and a child is 2 to 11
