Sorry if you already have found the info but
If your daughter is at school this is the only time you can get 'free' nappies my son Thomas is 11 and still in nappies we were given them by the school nurse at his infant school she sent the request off to the incontinence services they allow so many nappies a day Thomas was allowed 2 at aged 4 and 4 now at aged 11 !:oAutism isn't the end of the world just a journey to another one:)
:eek:Why do people answer your questions just to be rude and unhelpful, don't like my question please don't answer:eek:0 -

The health visitor can do it through the service from age 3 plus(age depending on pct) regardless of educational placement0 -
In our area, you don't get the nappies through the school - you get them through the continence service. Your child can be referred by yourself,- the school, health visitor, early years service, GP, or several other agencies. I think it varies from area to area.0

As you say in our area the only time we could get them was from referral from his school ...the doctor or health visitor said they couldn't help ..our doctor was useless !:oAutism isn't the end of the world just a journey to another one:)

joyciebird wrote: »Thanks for your help onetomany, but I know for a fact that the rate of DLA she is on is correct because I am a DLA decision maker, but to be honest I wasnt going to claim as a thought it was a conflict of interest but everything was done by someone who didnt know me in a building hundreds of miles away so its ok ( why I had to clarify that I dont know).
What I might do I take a copy of the statement to the outreach incontinence nurse we have but it makes me wonder why she hasnt mentioned it before!!
not sure if you are still about, if so can you please tell me if I have a chance of any DLA for my daughter aged 13 who due to a syrinx in her spinal column has become urinary incont. She copes fine in the day changing herself, just leaving more washing than most teans. But in the night we have to deal with sheet changes, baths showers etc. The thing is I have MS (very badly affected) and already get DLA, my husband works and dealing with both her and me through the night is leaving him exhausted. With things as they are I think we will need to look at paying for help through the night so any DLA for her would really help the cost of this. Fear is will Dwp think badly of us if we apply for her also, will we come across as just users and thus affect any future redo of my application.
But we are really struggiling at the moment everyone in the house is exhausted and is just about at the end of what we can handle.
we have never had to apply for benifits before this year- what a year!!!0 -

Your daughter claiming DLA will have no affect on yours - unless of you claim write on your form "I can't do this" but on your daughters' form you write that you do it for her.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

In our area we cant get pull-ups (nappies) my 8yr old ds only has adhd, odd and social and communication difficulties but because he hasnt got learning DISABILITY he cant get anything. He is dry mostly during the day but goes through two dry nites a night or one and wet bedding.
I tried all ways but no go.
I suppose thats why he gets his middle rate care for to name but a bit of his care needs. We go through 4-5 packs a month at a cost of £5-6 each and extra washing0 -

my son also has autism, hes 6 and is unable to control his bowels, the health visitor arranged for his incontince nappies when he was 3 , we were getting around 3 or 4 a day but due to his frequent bowel movements the school nurse did an assessment on his needs and the amount he gets now is around 5 or 6 a day.0
