ok i my son whos 7 still needs help , joyice if i was you i would be getting this in writting (so splelling again) and be taking back to ur doctor also i would be reaplaying her care on dla as u need to wash more etc (peraps appeal) i no its hard work but should be worth while in the long run, please ask the school to put her support in writing and send to dla you have nothing to lose, i no my school dont like to help with the toliet probblems good luck sending u a big hug x

Thanks for your help onetomany, but I know for a fact that the rate of DLA she is on is correct because I am a DLA decision maker, but to be honest I wasnt going to claim as a thought it was a conflict of interest but everything was done by someone who didnt know me in a building hundreds of miles away so its ok ( why I had to clarify that I dont know).

What I might do I take a copy of the statement to the outreach incontinence nurse we have but it makes me wonder why she hasnt mentioned it before!!
  • She never mentioned anything did she? I would of thought that would of been vital information to disclose.... Its a matter of fact that some mothers keep their disabled children in nappies for the extra welfare benefits. And no, I'll bet anything She will not get any NHS nappies of the health service fo a four years old child, unless she/he was severly disabled.

Why would SHE being me want to keep my child in nappies to claim benefits, when I work full time and cant claim any means tested benefits anyway, please next time you feel like making a comment, read the thread properly and stop wasting my time with your ignorance

Oh god no, please dont ever think that, your advice was good and if it helps just one person out there then it was worth your time to comment.

Anyway the hug helped me more, cos as a mum working full time on 4 hrs sleep a night, its what I need so I thank you most sincerely:A

I would suggest a conversation with school nurse would be the best possible starting point as they will know the route you need to go down on a local level. Unfortunately they are all different but school nurse can also put weight behind case if needed as well !!! supporting you. After all its for the childs dignity and needs.

We got referred by our health visitor for free nappies. They were pampers ones and were delivered about every 3 months. Although they never came with any paperwork, so unsure who they came from. I had to contact my health visitor when we no longer needed them.
