I work in a school and the boss has told us tomorrow we WILL be in. We are to spend today moving the car to a main road, or just catch public transport and/or set off early tomorrow.

I want another snowday now just to upset him. He doesn't word his emails politely at all...it's kind of like he doesn't care. A boss that doesn't care....never.

  • How old are you, GFH? I'm 37 in March :o

How old are you, if you don't mind me asking? I'm 35 and trying not to worry too much about what I keep reading on the internet about my fertility. My mum had me at 36, my Nan was in her late 30s when she had my uncle and my sister's friend had a baby at 40 despite having resigned herself to it not happening due to medical conditions. All concieved naturally. So hang in there, because it can happen!

38, and probably not a biologically young 38.

twinklie your boss sounds totally schiz, what a load of garbage!

MV ditto your boss. I believe you are entitled to paid time off for antenatal appointments and probably classes too. Unfortunately, pregnancy is a time when employers often show their true colours, one way or the other.

Morning all, we've got tons of snow today (I'd guestimate at at least 7" where it's untouched) which is unusual for the centre (well nearly centre) of Oxford! Work has been closed so I don't even have to lose out on annual leave. I did try to get in but only got half-way there before deciding it was too dangerous on the roads - the buses were going at a snails pace so it took me about an hour to get home (usually takes about 20 mins at most from where I got off the bus).

Anyways, not a lot going on here, on CD19 for me, had a couple of twinges in my left side, but apart from that, nada!

Hope things go OK today Laura

Right I'm off to do some knitting (would be mad not to take advantage of being off work :D)

Your work closed? We're still in :( But I can walk as don't live too far out and I have to say I totally enjoyed it. I practically frolicked all the way in through the snow! :o I just wish I had my own snowboard as I'd have gone to South Park at lunch and got some practice in for my holiday..(if they re-open Gatwick by Saturday that is..) And I'm on CD18 today, we're almost cycle buddies ;)

Love and sticky baby/beandust for you all (and some warming thoughts.. :D)

edit to add: twinklie - he sounds like a real charmer! Thinking snowy thoughts for you up there ;) !!!!!! man..
Never argue with an idiot, he just brings you down to his level and beats you with experience.

He also put on the email that the roads near school are ok if taken with CARE!!! Doesn't sound good to me. Anyway, I'm setting off late rather than early because on Tuesday most departments knew school was shut by 7.30...unlike mine. My HOD only found out because he rang in to say he'd be late!!! I was stuck on motorway then!!

Just had a txt to say school is open tomorrow...lol - and that we MUST reply to it.

DH has finally left to go back to Wales...sob sob. I was hoping for more snow chaos so he didn't have to go.

sorry..by he I mean my boss.

I said to him that surely this comes under AN care and I shouldnt have to book it as holiday, but he just came back and said that until HR know 'officially', it has to be booked as a day off.

So should I let HR know at this point? I'm not even 6 weeks yet, so tempting fate perhaps?? Or should I tell them so at least I dont have to use up my hols...

Comforting isn't it that w*nky bosses like that are so concerned with their staff's well being and safety.

I dont know what mine is going to say tomorrow if I'm snowed in again.

Still...I keepppppp telling myself that all this crap is temporary

as far as I am concerned, you say you have a "medical appointment" and it is up to your boss to confirm to your anti-personnel dept that this is why. Don't feel pressurised to tell anyone else you would rather not. Do you have a union?
