Morning all, we've got tons of snow today (I'd guestimate at at least 7" where it's untouched) which is unusual for the centre (well nearly centre) of Oxford! Work has been closed so I don't even have to lose out on annual leave. I did try to get in but only got half-way there before deciding it was too dangerous on the roads - the buses were going at a snails pace so it took me about an hour to get home (usually takes about 20 mins at most from where I got off the bus).
Anyways, not a lot going on here, on CD19 for me, had a couple of twinges in my left side, but apart from that, nada!
Hope things go OK today Laura
Right I'm off to do some knitting (would be mad not to take advantage of being off work)

 sorry just need to have a rant...I really hate my company!!!!
Basically all 5 of us in my dept who work in various parts of the country and are all badly affected by the snow, have phoned in today to work from home. No response from our boss to any of us to acknowledge our calls/emails, until a sarcastic email comes through listing a bunch of people who made it in.
I'm certain;ly not going to feel bl*ody guilty at not wanting to put myself in a situation where I'd probably get stranded...my boss lives about 10 mins away from the office too, and the people he mentioned who made it in live nowhere near any of us.
He also knows I am preg...did he really expect me to trudge through inches of snow and try to do a (normally) 1.5 hour journey on 2 trains, when I'd most likely get virtually nowhere and then risk getting stranded????
Its not even as if we cant all work from home. We have super duper laptops, blackberries, connection to the company network etc....auuugh makes me so mad.
I'm so not going back there after squid is born...i've done my nearly 6 years at that place. Time to move on methinks!Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -

MV, I thought your employer was obliged to give you time off for ante-natal appointments? Not entirely sure how it works though.
Bosses can be such a nightmare. I got snowed in last year - the only main route to work was hit by such bad snow that the army had to be drafted in to rescue people, cars were abandoned and people had to be put up in emergency shelters. This was all over the local news, so obvious that I physically couldn't get in, and yet my (now ex-) boss got all snippy about it. She who lives a 10 minute walk away, yet still drives! Lazy cow. Laughed when I found out that she drove in that day but couldn't get up the hill to the office, so had to drive home and then walk in :rotfl: That was one of the things that made me realise I really needed to find another job.You can do anything, make anything, dream anything.
