hi, hope you don't mind me joining.
We've just started TTC (just learning the terminology) the$se are our first ever attempts at this roller coaster. I came off the pill at the start of Dec and am still waiting for AF to arrive, getting a little worried as i've now read horror stories about the one i was one, and my cycle wasn't that great before i want on the pill. I'm trying to work on the 'if it happens basis' so that i don't become obsessed about everything. but i'm already on the look out for a BB Therm. Thanks to the earlier link i'm going to get it from Amazon.
Hope you don't mind me joining, i certainly feel at a loss about what i'm suposed to do (the technical stuff anyway).0 -
Smartie get your head out of the gutter-PMA doesn't stop because you thinks its on its way-and at any rate, if AF does arrive, think of the other little package that'll be in the post for you;)
Maddie I just spat my tea out reading your question-but I do mean that in the nicest way;) Reminds me of a time when I wasnt a walking reproductive encyclopedia...here's the tests that I had-
They did blood work for two cycles to check for immunity to rubella, progesterone levels, luteinizing hormone, follicle stimulating hormone and testosterone. These are done with two tests each in the month (cd3 nd cd21 roughly), those are norally the first tests they do as its just a few blood tests. Some doctors will only do them for one cycle. I also had something called an HSG, which is basically an x-ray. Its not something a gp will have you do as it is specialised.Bear in mind Ive been ttc in total 23 months and have loads going on (I dont mind sharing but I think you're better off keeping it simple at this point in the game)
Have you been temping? If you havent, you could help your doctor by temping for at least three months and then taking your chart with to your doctor. In addition to helping you predict ovulation, temping can be very helpful in reviewing the health of your hormones.0 -

Everything crossed for you Pen-including my legsIm having my scan on Tuesday and also petrified. Constipation is a good sign-I have been told this weekend as well:o
And welcome Lemon tree, made me homesick just then...my local pub back home was a little place called the Lemon tree:)0 -

Yeah sure
But honestly, thanks! Its good to know what may be coming. I know they can look at the little swimmers and guess I did know really that they can check hormone levels, but didn't know that would be the starting point IYKWIM?
I have been temping but gave it a break this month. I don't think I've been consistent enough with waking times etc for it to work properly. Temps are generally a bit all over the place so hard to pinpoint OV but there is a definate temp rise in the 2nd half so I'm fairly confident its happening.
I'll try to get my BBTing technique right over the next few months in case it comes in useful.Proud to be a moneysaver! :cool:0 -
Oh and :hello:Lemon TreeProud to be a moneysaver! :cool:0

Thanks for sharing all that info... I'm sure everyone will agree that it's very helpful!
We had decided that if nothing happened we wouldn't go down the seeing doc about it route as I've already been told there's a chance it may not happen but DH has decided he would like his little swimmers looked at if need be!BLOWINGBUBBLES:kisses2: SMARTIE120
