Yep, got my folic acid. And the first box of lovely organic veg arriving on Tuesday to kickstart my health eating :A
I think I may give the docs a call tomorrow to see if I can get a telephone consultation. I had a blood clot a couple of years ago, which apparently gives me a 2.5x higher risk of having one during pregnancy (and being overweight isn't going to help either) I can't see that it would be an issue unless I actually get pg, but it would put my mind at rest to have spoken to the doctor I think. Damn internet and being able to look up all of the medical ins and outs, it's turning me into a hypochondriac!

so a silly question when you get a BFP do you need to ring gp and make an appointment or can you just see practice nurse or what do you need to do?
yes I know in my job I should know the answer!!0 -
Afternoon all
I'm very tired after a day out with family for niece's 10th birthday. Ate far too much at carvery then had a nice slab of niece's Hello Kitty Birthday cake!
OH had finally bitten the bullet and said he thinks he should get himself to the doctors to be checked out after nearly 18 months of TTC with no joy.
I'm booking myself in tomorrow not only to get advice on TTC (of which I already know a lot) but to also get some advice on losing weight. I'm 24, and weigh ( according to government guidelines) 8 stone more than I should  so any help I can get from doctor etc would be gratefully appreciated
I haven't read back so congrats to those with BFP'sSealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

freebie what i did is ring my gp and when i got my first bfp he just said make my booking in appointment with the midwife for when im 8weeks. Now it was my third time going saying i got a bfp and he spent alot off time talking to me and he rang the epu, whilst i was there, and said wait for my letter from them!
nunny, i really hope everything goes ok tomorrow0 -
evening everyone
freebie - in the past I have made an appointment with GP mostly to let them know - they will put it on your notes. Only the first time did they want to do a test themselves that they never got the results for, was a different surgery though so may just be what they do. I'd be tempted to ask when you ring for the appointment if you need to see gp or if they can just book you appointment with midwife. Mine take all your details and the midwife team go round to collect them and call you to make appointments but it all varies with different areas. I still want to see my gp first because of the previous miscarriages.
getting clost to testing date now - you can add me to the list for 8th jan if you like. No symptoms yet, except the constant indegestion but thats because of christmas rubbish food. I've started doing wii fit again and gonna be healthy eating now too.0 -
FQ - I rang my GP and made an app with the Dr the week after I got my BFP..It was over Christmas so last week was the first chance I had to get in there.
Thats it for now as far as I can see. She just took my blood pressure, asked me some questions and that was it! I guess I'll get a letter in the coming weeks to go and meet the MW. This is all new to me!
BB - I know what you mean about the internet, it's easy to scare the pants off yourself! I'm determined not to dig too deeply, particularly about childbirth and stuff or I'll be a nervous wreck for the next 8 months! I dont even ask people close to me about their experiences (like my sister who would more than love to give me all the grizzly details!), as everyone is completely different, and what may be hellish/fine for one woman, could be completely the opposite for another.
No point scaring yourself unnecessarily.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
OOOOH I do Wii fit too. Or rather I'm going to start again in a bid to get healthy. I need some motivation though...I'm too tired when I get in from work usually.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Hello BigBird and welcome!
Cedrickerry - arrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhh! Can we have some pics of the pup?
nunny - hope it goes well at the docs, for you and OH.
Fuzz - I don't know when I'll test againshould prob wait until next weekend and might as its hard in the morning before work, but it seems a long time to wait (nope I'm not very patient!).
I'm trying to focus on the end of May rather than getting hopes up each month. By then we'll have been trying 12 months so I'll either have my BFP or we'll be able to go to the docs for tests etc. BTW what can they actually do to check us girlies out?Proud to be a moneysaver! :cool:0 -
Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone
smartie I'm just south of Exeter. Whereabouts are you? I'm not proper Devonshire as I moved here about 7 years ago (so probably still a grockle!:p), but DH is Devon born and bred. I'm from St Helens originally.
Did any of you speak to your GP when you decided to start TTC? I'm not sure whether I should, or wait a while til something happens (or doesn't). Kind of feel like maybe I'd just be wasting his time at this stage.
Sorry to hear about those of you who have MCd. It's all very exciting for me at the moment but I'm sure if/when I get a bfp I'm going to be a nervous wreck having read about all the things that can go wrong. Ignorance was indeed bliss...
I'm North Devon (yes you grockle;):p:rotfl:)
I had to get the go ahead from my consultant to TTC who wrote to my GP but never saw her until after I had an early mc.
And I asked Doc what should I do if I get BFP and she said to leave it a few weeks incase I have an early mc again then make appointment with midwife. I should have an early scan but the more I think about I don't think I want to.... That's if I ever get a BFP:rolleyes: *big sigh*
You oldies may remember me saying before how I get an urge to do a big tidy up just before AF arrives:o:rotfl:Well guess what I'm having the urge to do?? Looks like AF will be here soonBLOWINGBUBBLES:kisses2: SMARTIE120 -
twinklie I am lacking in motivation too but it is the only wii game we have that keeps the kids entertained, so I do my 20-30 mins then let them have control and they play jogging (weird kids) or balance games. Hopefully I'll be able to get into a good routine with it, lost a stone in the summer doing it and swimming once a week and healthy eating, only got 2 more stone to go.
smartie I'm a bit like that - I dont think I see the point in an early scan unless you need one. Last pregnancy I saw the heartbeat at 7wk5 then a week later at the next scan there was no heartbeat. I am just not going to be reassured again until I have reached the 12 week scan, need a BFP first though.0
