exercise balls are meant for you to just sit on - they make you use your core muscles to avoid backache. If you must bounce on it, whatever you do, don't tell the hospital physio - they frown upon it quite a lot (not good for your pelvis/back and you're liable to injure yourself apparently)

I'm here, just browsing OS threads, trying to devise a household budget for the next year and not getting anywhere! I can't find the piece of paper from work that shows what I'll be paid each month so that's annoying.

Smartie I started showing early on but it was a lot of bloating / water retention to begin with. Everyone is different but your uterus doesn't get past your pelvis until 12 weeks-ish.

Oh I've been bouncing on my ball!! It can help in early labour and basically gets baby to bounce onto your cervix to help with dilation - as recommended by my MW :)

Maureen - you'll need to keep eating foods high in iron if you want to avoid tabs, one big portion every so often wont do it am afraid :(

Thanks Som, I totally realise that, just that beans and the mince were about the only things in the house with an iron content at the time so big portions of that! Been to ASDA this morning and bought loads of brocolli (one of the few veg that the kids will all eat too), also trying to eat fortified type cereals at breakfast as well cos I realised i hadn't really been having breakfast due to all the nausea i was getting before. Read somewhere that nuts have iron too and there's no history of allergies in mine or dh family so have been trying to eat nuts but not really into them.

Any other iron rich foods i should be looking at? Bought some OJ too to help with the absorption.
Any advice is greatly appreciated guys, thank you.

MJS - with the iron stuff , i stopped my prescribed ones from doc as was really bad with the constipation and hard stools, i ahd been on tehse tablets for 2 months , and my iron went up from 9.7 to 9.8 in 2 months , after discussing with doc i said i would like to try something different and asked hima bout Floradix, he was happy for me to go on that , so i bought some from holland and barret and within a month which i ahd last blood test yesterday it has gone from 9.8 - 10.6 in 1 month , well pleased , and no horrible constipation or hard stools, (This is not medical advice) , but thought it may help you , they do tablets and medicine i went on there tablets instead of liquid

May be that it's different in early pg to the end. When I went to physio at about 25 weeks using the balls to sit on comfortably was mentioned but we weren't told not to bounce.

So am I right in thinking that "they" recommend baby sleeping in parent's room for the first 6 months to reduce risks of SIDS, and no other reason?

I'm thinking bubs will be in his/her own room right from the beginning.
