This is my first post to MSE, hopefully wont make any blunder while posting on this forum. I am 25 weeks pregnant with a baby boyand am looking for buying a cot bed with nursery bedding set for my baby. But, I feel really clueless what to buy and where to buy it from
I have been going through the forum posts and they seem really interesting an informative. Can somebody please help me with this
Welcome Little Angel
Yeah try Kiddiecare, mothercare, babies r us, asda, ikea etc they all do cotbeds
With regards to the nursery bedding set, Ive read that babies under 12 months shoujldnt have bumpers etc for cots so we havent got one yet, plus Elliot will be sleeping in his moses basket for as long as poss first
Well we went to Matalan and got the sheets, shame we picked up the wrong !!!!!!! ones! we went for fitted moses basket sheets, and have ended up withe flanneltte moses basket sheets, which I think are for putting on top of baby really not for on the mattress.
Although can use them on the matress of course
I might see if I can order some of the fitted ones online.
I also got 3 nighties that I am hoping are ok for Breastfeeding, the buttons unbutton to just below the breast, I am sure I can get it out lolI got some slippers for the hospital as well
Now I am kinda freaking out cos I have everything in techncically lol just need to pack the bag EEKDebt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)

kind of , on my cot bed set it stated bumpers are ok up to 12 months , they dont recommend bumpers after 12 months , its a no no to cot quilts under 12 months , but like you my little man will be in his moses basket for a cpl months then in hes cotbed,
its on all the labels too.
this is from a set on babies r usCheck bumper ties regularly to ensure they are secure. Remove bumper once child can sit unaided. Quilt recommended for use for babies over 12 months.Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec0 -
Hmm I must have read it wrong, I thought babies weren't allowed them in case they choke on the ties?
Ah well lol
I will deffo be getting him a nice bumper set when he goes into his cotDebt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)

I was going to get a bumper for the crib, as most crib sets have them in. But now im confused lol.
I must go and research this
LOL! I googled it and i typed in "can you use co.." and the suggestions bar came up with "can you use condoms in the shower?"
I didn't look though i carried on writing 'cot bumper' hehe0 -
Found thisA further 32% wrongly identified cot bumpers as a risk, but research has shown that they have neither good nor bad effects in terms of cot death risk
http://fsid.org.uk/Page.aspx?pid=575Research into cot bumpers has produced neutral results. On the positive side, they don't have bad effects, so are considered safe to use in the cot. However, if they've got strings to attach them to the cot, they could be pulled by older babies. Some experts recommend avoiding using bumpers with babies who can sit unaided
But if you google it there are loads of pregnancy forum posts about it and most people replied saying they wouldn't recommened

Im really bored by the way... lol0 -
I've been told that you can use cot bumpers up until the child can sit unaided in the cot, but it's each to their own.
I used my bumper till around a year or so with my 1st x:smileyheaMummy to my lil' man born '05:smileyhea:j Baby boy due May 2010 :j0 -
Right just done some quick nappy research.
I think i will start off with my huggies i have, i have 6/7 packs of size 1 (27nappies)
Tesco do a size 2 own brand nappy, which is up until 13lbs, two packs for £8 and you get 44 in each pack, working out to be about 9p each. So i'll start with two packs to see if we get on with them.
Tesco also do size 3 own brand nappy, these are upto 20lbs, and at the moment are 3 packs for £9, 32 in each pack. Working out to be 9.37p per nappy, for 6 packs it would be 192 nappies
Pampers size 3 are 2 for £18 in asda, 9-20lbs, 98 per pack which is 196 nappies and works out to be 9.18p per nappy.
So should i go for pampers or tesco for my size 3's?
I ultimatly want to use tesco's and i've read and heard loads of great reviews, so do i stick with tesco and lose those 4 extra nappies? Or go with pampers whilst they are cheap?

I would say Tesco EA - for the sake of 4 nappies (or less than 40p if you look at it that way) you may as well stick with the same brand.
Well we are almost there with the furniture! DH got mightyly bored of putting it all together so is leaving the alst bit til tomorrow. Only got to finish the changer so not too much left. I've put all the bedding etc away in the drawer under the cotbed and have put clothes in the wardrobe.
Forgot to say earlier - picked up my birth pool yesterday!!! Going to inflate it probably Monday (when I'll be 36+6).
Seriously, all I need now is a baby!!0 -
Oh, and I have a cot bumper. I thought you could use them straight away as the baby can't get tp them anyway (as they should be at the foot of the bed and the bumper should be at the top) [insert confused smiley here]0
