  • Congratulations and welcome.

Most doctors just take your word for it when you tell them that you've done a few tests! They'll probably just get you to book in with the MW at about 10 weeks.

I'm not sure if they'll send you for an early scan- it seems to depend a lot on the doctor. They might well just go on the date of your last period, then update your due date at the 12 week scan if needs be.

A few of us on here have paid for early private scans. Not very MSE though as it costs about £50, but good for peace of mind!

  • Evening all!

Well I had my 12 week scan today and all was well! There was a strong heartbeat and baby was kicking his legs about the whole time. I'm actually measuring at 11 + 6 rather than 12 + 4 so my EDD has changed to 21st May. If someone in the know could change the list for me that would be great.

I also signed up to take part in the study thats going on and had my blood taken. I have the worst veins in the world! Took 2 of them 15 mins to find vein. All the staff were lovely and the hospital seems really good so far so alls good!

Hope everyones doing ok and I hope we hear from PP soon.

32b - so sorry to hear about your gran. How's your sister doing? Have you broken the news to her yet?

Karen - that picture of tegan is lovely - she's gorgeous!

EA - definitely write and make sure you tell them that you're pregnant! Much more likely to get something back that way I think. I would definitely find something like that much harder to cope with in my current sqeamish, pregnant state lol Infact I would have been running to the loo i think!!

Helen - Ethan is lovely aswell! I'm sooooo broody right now :) Sorry he's been keeping you up tho

I know what you mean about the smells - I'm having to stand right back when I speak to some of my customers at work at the moment lol. One of them nearly had me gagging today she was that bad!

Can you be broody if you're already pregnant?! I know what you mean...I want my baby now :happyhear *needs stamping feet smiley*

  • Sidekick - unfortunately it is a waiting game....waiting for that first scan is a pain, lol. BUT at first apt doctor will just ask and take your blood pressure, they don't seem to confirm it any more. They'll ask for an idea of when your last period was, if you have none they should sort out a dating scan but this could be up to two weeks wait. But they refer you to a midwife, midwife should contact you and arrange a booking in appointment at around 10wks.

But we are all here too - obviously can't give any medical advice but we do help each other out alot as we are all going through or have gone through something similar, ie, pains, morning sickness, weird feelings - anything you can always feel free to ask us. If we think you need to see a MW trust me we'll tell you anyway ;)

As for nice, yes, a good few of us had this convo a few days back. We end up spending most of our time on here and forget how rude and scary some of the threads get, lol! :D

Sidekick welcome to the thread. My GP just took my word for it, I was 5+2 when I went. I had my booking in at 8+2 then went for my scan at 12 weeks.

Muso Yay for scans :j So glad you got to see your little wriggly bean.

I definately think being pregnant makes you more broody :o The piccies today of Tegan and Ethan are making me desperate to hold my baby. Thats it, curry, RLT, pineapple, gym ball and s-e-x are all being increased from tomorrow! :p

There is a lot of pregnancy experience on here though, so feel free to ask questions or have a moan!

Yay for seeing bean!!! And double yay for bean being a fidgeter so you got a good scan! It's a pain when they put your EDD back though isn't it? Lol!

I usually have viens like that - but the other midwife came in while my MW was taking bloods, i commented that they usually have me pumping my arm to get the blood out, and never end up with enough. She replied ah never mind, Jackie is the vampire around here, she can get blood out of a stone, lol. She was right too - filled up those little bottles in no time :T

I hope pp is ok too!

thanks but that's the problem...I have no idea when my last period was. I can't remember :-( For all I know I could be 12 weeks already. I suppose if they make me wait over a month I might just pay and go private.

Meh, I'm new to all this and I really have no idea what I'm supposed to be going :-(
  • Don't worry too much - just tell the Dr, you should be lucky in that case and get a quick dating scan! it'll be a blessing in disguise if you are further along than you think trust me. The rest of us (I think, or is it just me) think it is going oh so slowly through this first trimester.

Babycentre is a good website to read through though. Good for weekly guides of what is happening 'in there'.
