PP that's bull, you can decide you want a HB at any stage. People have said it before but obv i know it to be true now seeing as i changed to one 2 days before my due date. So don't be fobbed off, but i know it's hassle you don't need.

Welcome to tink and choccy! :D

I went upstairs to wrap Xmas pressies as per SJ's orders, and i did about 4 before realising how comfy my bed looked, hence a nap with the dog (while the moron neighbours were quiet for once) :rotfl:
Bit of blood on the sheets where dog was so think she's come into season - well i'm assuming so although she yelped when playing with the cat just before so unless the cat made her bleed  Can't see anything though.

Been to see mw, no sweep :(

BUT she is coming on Saturday to my house to do one, so i don't mind. I was only concerned because i thought i wouldn't see her again til 41+5. She said they induce at 13 days which is Xmas day but that they'd negotiate with whoever is in charge for me to go in on Boxing Day :(
She also said the father seems to matter for babies who go overdue, and my ex's 1st baby was 2 weeks over, induction, emergency c-section... soooo not feeling too confident about going on my own anymore.
  • I was actually thinking of you beenie as she was telling me it was too late! I was so tempted to turn round and say yeah but they changed beenie to a homebirth 2 days before her due date but i stopped myself thinking she might think i was a bit crazy :rotfl:

I might try phoning the head of midwifery at the hospital tomorrow and see what they say  I am really peed off with them though :(

I dont think it would be so bad if i had had the same or maybe even 2 midwifes all the way through but i think i have probably seen 5 or 6 different ones now there is a severe lack of continuity of care going on

I wouldnt mind but i wanted a home birth with DD2 and they refused it coz i was living in a 15th floor flat and their arguement was what if the lifts broke down and there was an emergency and we couldnt get you out, which at the time i though was fair enough, so i opted for a water birth instead which i still never got coz she arrived so quickly :rotfl: I dont intend on having anymore after this one and i want my damn homebirth!!!! :(

PP your midwives sound like goons to be fair. Get them told, they've got no right to tell you you can't have one

The thing is they are saying that i cant have one coz of the polyhydramnios but according to the last scan that i had (the one that i still reckon wasnt done properly but i am playing on their mistake here ;) ) they reckon that the amount of fluid i am carrying is fine, so if it is fine there is no reason why i cant have one but the midwife was just contradicting herself which is what peed me off the most

I just really really dont want to give birth in that hospital the only other way i can see around it is to hang on as long as possible at home and then call an ambulance its gonna mean no pain relief though
  • Hey everyone,

    Welcome & congrats newbies!!

Sorry about all the stress PP, it does sound like they're just saying whatever they can to get you to not have HB when actually they just don't want the hassle.

Sorry about the lack of sweep Beenie, still can't believe how flexible mine are about it!

Speaking of which, anyone any ideas how i'm gonna feel after sweep? I've read/heard different things. Some seem to say it's nothing really but others say that it can be quite painful & can bleed afterwards? It's just that OH is at work which means I'll be going on my own and I was planning on walking cos its only 15-20 mins walk away, but obviously don't want to if I really won't feel like walking back afterwards.

Hi all, just in from the PO:j:j what lovely weather we are having.....NOT.. it's got all the drivers round here turning into head cases that think they own the road.

jha your gift should reach you before xmas but.....it's not wrapped just placed in the parcel as someone:rolleyes: ripped the packet in the Que, no problem i thought i'll just get wrapping paper and wrap it at the side. Right as i got to the counter the system went down for using my card in the PO so all i had was the change in my purse, so i bunged everything into one packet unwrapped 1st class, Soo i blame the extras for blowing the SS budget on postage:rotfl: Just glad it is done, honestly thought i was never going to get it posted. One of the extra's in the pack is brand new never used but DD binned the pack, just so you know. the other i just liked.

    Off to catch up.

PP, you're entitled to HB no matter what - speak to head of MWs tomorrow and check out the homebirth.org.uk website as they have some good lines-to-take if you've gotten stubborn MWs.

Beenie - fab news about the sweep. I'll bet you don't need it! I reckon the thing about the fathers is pure rubbish - just like saying pineapples make you go into labour :p.

I've just forgotten names, but welcome to the newbies & just to say that I didn't have a single episode of morning sickness so don't be scared if you don't feel ill!!

maz - I've heard you feel crampy and may bleed a little. But it varies woman to woman. I think they are supposed to take 24-48hrs to have effect, so I'll bet walking home straight after is fine.

What's with the spam bots on this thread lately? Argh...
