I finally got seen by 2 midwives yesterday, lol. Did paperwork, answered many questions, & got mountains of more leaflets to read. Joy. Am being referred to a consultant cos I'm so fat. That's not til January, and I *should* have had a scan by then apparently... :rolleyes:0

Sorry I've not replied sooner to the below, but I've been snippered by "man flu" and you know what us blokes are like when that happens!?!redmel1621 wrote: »Hi Mr AB
How is Mrs AB feeling at the moment? Tired, stretching pains, feeling strange because there is no big belly yet so it is hard to comprehend a baby in there?
We have one man over on the parent thread, who is very involved in his child's upbringing. I am sure once your lovely bundle is here you will be very warmly welcomed over there too
Mel,
Mrs AB is experiencing all of those symptoms you mentioned, but she's pleased at being pregnant that she realised her body will go though numerous changes over the next few months. This is our first, so it's ALL very very strange.
I'm sure once Baby AB arrives I'll hop over to the parent thread

Oh my god, I'm in the worst mood ever.
Midwife was rubbish, she argued with me that I was only 24+5, despite being due 8th March on a MONDAY. Today is MONDAY, how can I not be an exact number of weeks? ARGH, she's the stand in one and she's an idiot. So spent ages arguing with her saying I need my Mat B1 for and she kept refusing, until I promised I wouldn't send it to anyone til Friday, when I'd be 25 weeks, erm, what, even by your wrong calculation I'd be 25+2 on Friday. Anyway conceded to shut her up then told her I wanted to switch hospitals and she was like oh ok you're low risk no problem, but you'll have to wait til you come back in 4 weeks for the other midwife so refer you. Ok, 1/ it clearly states ALL over my notes that I'm classed as high risk, 2/ by the time I go back in 4 weeks (meant to be a 28 week appointment though it will be 29 as she can't count) and the referral is sent, I'll quite probably be too late to get to a water birth evening (which she said I can't go to until I've been referred) so I won't get my water birth. I could cry, stupid stupid woman. I actually complained to reception on the way out that the woman is stupid & they said I wasn't the first person to say as much!
Then, popped into the post office, mum was in the Q which was massive, so I sat down as I've been having trouble with sciatica. Some woman came over and had a go at me, saying I had no manners because i hadn't offered her the chair, erm, what? I was so shocked I didn't know what to say and she quickly scuttled off, if I see her again she'll wish she never opened her mouth.
I could cry, god, stupid hormones. Now the prospect of a water birth at home is becoming far more appealing, will have to sit OH down to seriously discuss it later...Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0 -
aw gymfiend sounds like a rubbish day
hope it gets better for you.
haven't been on for ages so haven't even attempted to catch up!! there's been about 50 pages since last visit lol
thanks to the GL's with bloods, went fairly well (for me) and ended up in for about 20mins while they wouldn't let me leave or anyone else come in lol
have also had a massive row with dd's dad - he found out that I'm pg too early at dd's parent's evening, told him I'm not telling anyone as still v early (was about 9-10 weeks then) and have now found out he's taken it upon himself to tell everyone!! it's not his child and none of his business. when I took it up with him, his excuse was that I hadn't told him not to tell anyone!!! what did he think I meant when I said I'm not telling anyone it's still too early???!!! dd id only 5 so can't complain that she told her teacher, and that isn't going to affect me anyway - she's not told her friends so isn't a prob.
he's a numpty at the best of times, but this just really takes the P and I had dd nearly in tears when he dropped her home coz "he told our secret to his friends"0 -
Oh my god, I'm in the worst mood ever.
gym,
Sounds to me like you have every right to be in a mood after the day you've had!?!
With regards the midwife, what are your thoughts about making an official complaint to the surgery? I think that all to often we accept bad service, but if people don't make the management aware, she'll continue in the same vein and also upset other mums-to-be with her incompetent attitude!!
Just send them a letter, which a brief outline of the issues, which you've covered in your original post. If your Doctor's has such a service, you might even be able to do it via e-mail to save you the cost of a stamp (this is the moneysavingexpert website after all)
Keep your chin up and don't let idiots get you down.
