Congratulations and welcome
please take things easy but personally i would call nhs direct myself, u are very early into pg and to be honest i never had any pains, and if you are literally 4 weeks in it could be period pains , but your body may be just adjusting to not having periods,
Hope things are ok , and welcome again , we are a friendly lot here and try and help in every way , but please dont take our advise as 100% we are not medical staff.Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec0 -
I'm the same JHA- i've just had mine as now 3rd trimester. It didn't hurt at the time, but two days later it is still feeling a bit bruised and I have a red patch all around it which I'm hoping will be gone by Monday. If not will be going back to GP to get it checked.
I'd rather have the injection having read the info we get at work (I work in a hosptial) and wouldn't forgive myself if I caught swine flu, working in a hosp makes me quite high risk, saying all that though it took me about a month of debating to make my mind up and i started off thinking absolutely no way would I have it.
Just realised I only have 6 weeks left at work!!! Yay, cannot wait nowBoots: £107.xx on AC :j

Thanks, I am sat here debating, I change my mind every two minutes, I am 22weeks pregnant, feel a bit better with you saying you work in a hospital and have more info, is there any info on the effect it has on the unborn baby ? I think its worse because Ive only had a day to think about it, if I miss todays appointment would they refuse to give me another appt, just so I can have alittle more thinking time0 -

Aargh, our flipping fence has blown down in the gale force winds! How annoying. It's one we have joint ownership of so will cost us, and it also means that our neighbours can see into our lounge through our french doors. Just what I wanted at the moment!
No advice on Swine Flu jab really as I haven't been offered it, but if I wasn't so far in I'd have had it.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -

Oh, and they can't say no in the future to an appt, you are entitled to it and it is recommended, so if you need more time then take it.
THere is no evidence of negative effects on the baby from the info I have, if there were any doubts they wouldn't be promoting it. All the health professionals I have spoken to about it have been recommending that I get it, and have had it themselves. I understand peoples reservations, but I think technology has moved on a bit which should make the testing process more reliable and quicker.Boots: £107.xx on AC :j

So if we get the jab are we then completely immune to swine flu ?
Can we be around people who have it and know we can't catch it? Is that a stupid question :rotfl:

yes, but like any other inoculation, it can take a few weeks to become effective so that your body has enough time to build up the antibodies against it (seasonal flu jab takes 2-3 weeks to work).
Personally, I'm not having it, I think there are too many things that can go wrong early in pregnancy (only going on 10 weeks myself) without adding other unknown factors into the mix. I think I'd have been happier to have it after 24 weeks but even then, I'd still really have to think about it. I suppose I don't want to be like these parents who has a child with a problem and, in twenty years, say "what if I hadn't taken it" when new research comes up.0
