If I make up 2 bottles with hot water and powder in the morning and take them to the CM will they be okay?

I know the textbook answer is that every bottle should be made as and when you need it...but in your mummy experience what do you think?

They'll be fine! In the olden days you were 'allowed' to make a whole days worth the night before - and the babies survived!

MIL is borrowing my baby tomorrow - all day! She's never been anywhere without me before.

I've got buggy, bottles, dinner, spoon, nappies, wipes, bum cream on my mental list for her. What have I forgotten?

Mooki, good luck tomorrow; I can only imagine what a challenge it must be. At least it sounds like you mostly find your work interesting.
(I get up at 6.15 every morning because Elijah is a little monster! I wouldn't need to get up til after 7 for work's sake!)

Bailey, they are utterly gorgeous :) we so need a second baby... *goes off to see about that*

    Okay - stupid question time.

Fine! if you wanted to though you could send powder in a pot and a sealed empty bottle

Tigs - do you have everything ready at home?
What with Andrew being early and then you not knowing when he was coming home.

Funnily, we did have almost everything before I went into hospital - not sure why, suspect it was just excitement. We knew he'd be early, but not that early! Only things I've bought since are a bin (for nappies), a baby bath, and some "micro" sized nappies ... oh, and loads of tiny outfits!
Tigs, why was Andrew born so early out of interest?

Problems with the uterine bloodflow (mine into the placenta) - a weird pattern whereby the placenta was "resisting" the input flow. It was healthy for a while until the bloodflow "reversed" (not quite, but that's the term they use) and then Andrew was in danger. Luckily they had spotted the problem at a research scan for a project I was involved with (i.e. not at the standard 12 & 20wk scans), and I was put onto regular doppler-scans to be monitored.

  • Although having said that with both of mine, i would sterilise, pour in boiling water, leave to cool for bit and then add powder, once cold, i'd have a row of 6 bottles in the fridge for 24 hrs. Then could heat in micro on demand. That's how me and most of my mummy friends did it, but things seem to have changed in only a year or 3.
  • Its so much easier once they are on cow's milk, the powder and sterilising seems so long ago now and it was only 10m since i stopped.
