Vie didn't want to eat any toast, but keeps drinking water. I wonder should we get some Dioralyte? Or can she survive on water for a while?

Just keep giving water....Don't even bother trying to 'get food into her' all she needs is to stay hydrated. Not medical advice just repeating what I have heard countless times;) (from ex-work)

Offer food(toast etc), but if she doesn't want it don't worry and only give her small amounts at a time.

(((hugs for Hypno))) I'd suggest expressing from the right side when he is feeding from the left, other than that.. I can't help sorry! Hope things get better.

3, fingers crossed she is over the worst of it. If she is eating something and still happy to take water I wouldn't bother with rehydration sachets, they taste boggin anyway. Just a tip, put something on her bum as a barrier, vaseleine, nappy rash cream etc if you don't normally. She will probably end up with a bit of nappy rash if she has bad diawoowoo.

Right I have been pro-active today. I have e-mailed the customer care dept at SLC and have explained the situation and asked if it is possible that someone looks into my account. I have also e-mailed news24 BBC(or whatever they are called now!) and asked why they feel fit to ignore the fact that 100's possibly 100 000's people are being left struggling to keep a roof over their families head because of the incompetance of the SFE and the governments lack of response to the situation......and if they were real journalists/reporters they would be getting to the bottom of the story and bloody well reporting on it:mad:

Haha, so I will see if I get any responses from either places I have copied my e-mail and if SLC don't get back to me satisfactorily, I have informed them a copy will be getting sent to my MP with their response(in any).....I have been patient long enough and according to them I should have had my app assessed a month ago!!! But apparantly there is "nothing they can do"

Kai is groaning away in his travel cot trying not to have a nap in there (he had it in there yesterday) I am am trying to get out of having his naps in the bouncy chair because he is getting too heavy for it and I don't want it ruined otherwise I will have to buy a new one!

follow on milk freebie - i am in camp that believes more people would be grateful of a freebie than offended by it, sorry. if you dont want a freebie then bin it or pass it on to someone that does, but more people would be grateful for a freebie than not IMHO :)

    :grouphug:
i feel for you, and i know some people on here have gone through the whole "dreading the next feed" thing, i know i did, and i think dreading the feeds tainted my first few weeks with my son... the best thing i ever did was stop, i think i would have ended up with PND quite badly if i had carried on, but thats just me :o

my nan came round this morning and brought a new toy for seth... its a VERY NOISY mobile phone thing and i already want to take the batteries out :o

    Woooo, go Mel!!

BBC breakfast had a piece on this last week but it was entirely from your 'average teenage student' viewpoint. Didn't mention mature students at all.

BBC stories on student loans here :) Might be some more ideas for programmes to contact on there. What about Tonight on ITV? The one Martin's always on, or indeed Martin himself?

Hey all, i haven't had a chance to catch up, i'm really sorry, we're having a horrible couple of days. I wanted some help and some advice and damn good hug really because Austins feeding is getting worse and worse....

When we first started breastfeeding at the hospital he took a couple of days before he would latch on both sides (preferred right) but by the time we left 3 days after my section he was feeding on both sides. After that we went from strength to strength, he fed quickly and efficiently and although I had painful letdown and refill pain for a few weeks we got through it and thought that was the hard stuff over with.He would easily drain a boob in 8-10 mins. From 8 weeks though he started pulling off whilst feeding, pulling my nipple with him, he doesn't do it right at the beginning of a feed but will often start only a few minutes in and then just carries on for the rest of a feed, pulling off, crying fussing and screaming and then latching on again, taking a few more sucks and then pulling off, crying, fussing again. I went to a couple of breastfeeding support groups, the first said maybe it was bad latch but i didn't agree because he never had any issues feeding before and i've had no discomfort whilst feeding and I know i can tell on the times when he's latched on badly. The next group said that maybe he wanted more of the faster flow milk to start with and that i should swap boobs when he fussed and put him to the other breast. I started doing that, and it didn't really help but has now left me with another problem. He prefers my left breast because it has a fast flow, and swapping him to left when he started on right meant that he took most of his feed on left. But when i started on left he would sometimes not really go over to the right so the right boob has been getting less and less stimulation which is think is just making the problem worse and worse. I'm now at breaking point, every feed is a fight, whichever breast he's on, he's screams, hits me, pushes at the breast, and as soon as i take him off he bellows until i put him back on and then sucks for 30 seconds and it all starts again, I don't know what to do, I've been fighting through this feeding issue for weeks and weeks and weeks and I just don't know how much more i can take, his problem feeding with my left side has meant I've had a blocked duct and now we think i have mastitis in that side, i'm on anitbiotics and am supposed to feed through the problem but he fights so much and it's already so painful that every feed is 30mins to an hours of tears, from both me and Austin.

I dont know what to do....sorry that was such a long post but i just need to get this out....there's no joy in feeding anymore, i dread every feed....

Just a thought if hes crying and screaming with every feed maybe he is in pain somehow? I seen someone on here mention silent reflux, it might not be a breast-feeding issue at all:confused:

You could give expressing and bottle feeding a try to see if he is able to feed without working himself into a state.
