Morning All :hello: Sunshine streaming through the window and onto Andrew's face as I type. Good sleeps last night between his feeds, I reckon we're lucky to have such a placid baby :) Mind you, he probably can't move as his tummy is so full - 2.7oz every 4 hours in a tiny baby :D

Krystal, do you not think that the follow on milk sample is good for formula feeding mums? I dont really think its fair that free samples shouldnt be given just because it wont be used by everyone, same as when mags give away cereal bars, not everyone can eat them or like them, but I dont think its worthy a complaint, sorry :o
That's a good point. We gave our formula and baby food samples away on freecycle. Some formula companies do appear to be rather unscrupulous though and will do what they can get away with. Apparently in the US they actually send out whole tins of formula to people but only to people who are breastfeeding.

I think the issue with blanket free samples of formula is that it gives the impression that formula feeding is standard and the norm which if someone is struggling with breastfeeding (as most people do at some point) might influence them to give up. Obviously one free sample on its own isn't going to make a difference but it's part of the overall message. Although it's not something which bothers me, alot of people are influenced by what is considered to be the norm and if people around them consider formula feeding to be "normal" and breastfeeding to be "weird" then that can be very discouraging and will have an influence.

Having said that, I certainly would not want things to swing the other way such that formula feeders are marginalised. I have an Australian friend who avoided feeding her baby in public because people would come up to her and make comments like, "You shouldn't have had a baby if you didn't care enough to breastfeed."
Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.

I had to wait two months before I first got something and then I haven't had anything since (three more months). We got a book which was officially worth £7.99 but we're giving it to one of Alice's friends as a birthday present because he will appreciate it more and we would normally spend up to £5 so that means we've just broken even so far. I wonder if maybe the people with younger ones get more stuff?
I think its better if you have 2 LOs that way you're in 2 categories, I've had a nursing bra for me, a potty for Chris and teething thing for Edgar
Sadly, I think that's how society operates sometimes... He who shouts loudest gets most attention...

Good news about Sainsburys... I was thinking about complaining about the free sample of follow on formula I got in my Tesco magazine... I feel it could undermine a breastfeeding relationship...
this has just made me realise that Tesco must know that I am BFing (or have a pretty good guess as I haven't bought any formula but have bought a nursing bra and millions of breast pads from them!) but I get lots of vouchers in bothe the clubcard thing and baby club thing for formula but I've never had one for breast pads.

I don't mind them giving out vouchers for formula (came in very handy when I was FFing Chris!) but it's not really fair to not give me a useful voucher now I'm BFing

Baby has had more water, and kept it down and is now sleeping on me.

When do I risk milk/food again? She'll be starving.

3 - soory she is poorly, but I really would leave off the food/milk for as long as possible...the doctor told me, when Kai was ill, not to bother with the milk as more likely to upset his tum than food.....he said stick with little bits of food at a time, but wait until he is truly hungry.

3 - I'd go for a lil soldier of dry toast, that's what I would have when I'm ill and because it's something she can feed herself if she's not in the mood she's more likely to leave it than if you spoon feed her something IYSWIM
