How did the night nappy experiment go SS?
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Em - My older cat is the one most likely to scratch but even then it's VERY rarely, they are both easy going with Keira, when the older one wasn't so fat she used to put it in her baby buggy and go charging round the house, the cat liked it though!!
The kitten hasn't scratched me purposely ever, he did leave a smiley faced slash on my leg though when he tried to jump on my lap and slid down. Ouchies!
i swear scruff is mental, he will pounce from sleeping when you're just sitting there minding your own business! stupid cat. good job he's stupidly cute.
did you see the pics someone posted on the pet forum of the cat that would only sleep in a buggy or it stayed up howling all night :rotfl:

seth seems a bit sicky this morning, unusual since the reflux stopped? his porridge has been coming up in burps :( not sure whether to send him to the CM or not, he's meant to be going for his last settling in session today :undecided
oh, that means its my turn to be in my last week of maternity leave :( this time in a week i'll be about to start work, how crazy is that!

oh and the freak on ebay that emailed me first asking if there was a manufacturer guarantee for what i was selling, then said he wasnt going to bid cos i'd listed as no returns, went for the buy it now? i was tempted to refund him and relist it cos he sounds like trouble but i CBA!

anyone watching Doc Martin ??? That was the quickest labour and birth ever on record !!!!

indeed! And I thought it was really misleading how non-medically correct it was, given how accurate they usually are! No third stage, no syntocin, lithotomy position, no vit K, bad, bad bad!

I think I'm going to dig out the vouchers for jars and packets I have and use them up to buy types that I wouldn't/ couldn't easily make then I can try Rhys on the flavours without too much faff/expense in case he doesn't like it (yet!). Sound like a plan?

sounds good elle. We kinda use costco and asda free baby food for the same purpose. I have a coffee, fergus has a free jar of a flavour I'll never cook :D

hiya searchie :)

yep I reckon salt dough decorations would be very child friendly, they just mustn't eat the dough! Only cos it's so salty they'd be sick!

have you got any cookie cutters?

bump munchkin is well and sends you a little kick :D

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Now on page 99 lol
Em - Izzy loves natural yoghurt, or I mixe it with fruit puree. I look out for the going over fruit they put on offer at the end of the day -if I'm going to puree and freeze it then it doesn't matter if it needs using today ;)

I keep meaning to try some savoury ones too - cucumber yoghurt for one. I'm not sure what else I could do?

Caz - congratulations on the job! And have you tried mixing a bit of baby rice into Erin's yoghurt to fill her up a bit?

I have a question now - really aimed at those of you with a bit older kids. I'm still feeding Izzy to sleep, but it is getting more and more of a challenge - it doesn't always work, and sometimes she wakes up as (or just after) I've put her down, and doesn't want more milk. So I'm sometimes having to get her to sleep in my arms, but without milk. All this is meaning that bedtime is taking longer and longer, so I'm having to go to bed later and later to fit in all the things I need to get done in the evenings.

I could really do with putting her down awake, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I know it will be a hard week or so to start with until she gets the hang of it, which I'm prepared for, but I'm not sure how to do it! Whenever she wakes up as I put her down she sits herself up, stands herself up, and screams until I pick her up and put her back on the boob again, so whenver I read all of the wording about controlled crying, where it says to go back in and calm baby down without picking up/feeding I'm not sure how it would work! Has anyone else taught an older baby to go to bed awake? What did you do? Help!

When Archie started to not go to sleep properly after a feed I initially tried to put him down awake or semi awake after the feed but it didn't always go well. It seemed to work much better disassociating feeding from sleep and rejigging the feeding part of the bed routine to bath - dress - feed - story - bed - we then sing a few songs and say night night and leave.

Its isn't always good but provided he isn't over tired seems to go better.
just reading a thread on the special occas board .. what do you do on christmas ... just reading it gets me ready .. just me philip and the kids not forgotting sweep :D tis great :D x

Xmas is a mare for me - lots of work and OH always wants us to go to his parents and wont go to mine. One yr I even made a pact with him that I would do what he wanted that yr so long as we could do what I wanted thde next. So dutifully bore overcooked rubbery roast potatoes ( I don't know how she managed that), cold salmon (she cooks all the meats etc in advance and nukes but I got cold for some reason) and a frosty atmosphere as mil and fil were bickering (dont know why they had to pick this time to do it).

Anyway he must have thought I'd forgotten as around nov/dec the next yr as I started to make plans for xmas oh was making going to my parents noises again .........he point blank refused to go to my mums and suggested we do seperate dinners (before LO and my oldest isn't his so he didn't care from that pov).

I compromised and we did xmas dinner at home (thus dissappointing my mum) but from then on I've refused to go to his parents .....

Since LO came along I'm even more clear on this as I don't think it's fair to expect him to spend his xmas traipsing around rellys but as oh STILL wont go to my mums at xmas he's got no chance!!! My mum would be really put out if we regularly did xmas at his parents and then never went to her and I can't say I'd blame her - she does much more for us than them-although they are great g-parents she will baysit at the drop of a hat if available and comes to take him out for a walk at least once a week if not more!!

Mind you my DREAM is to book a cottage in cornwall for xmas.....wish we could afford it this year!!
I know, I think its pants, but they count him as available for childcare as he is at home, although they do not ask what the incapacity is, so they dont know if he is fit for childcare  Anywho, they are at least now giving me something, just not as much as I think we deserve :o
That just seems so stupid - that would mean effectively that if he was too sick to do childcare that you couldn't work either!!

oh, elle I remembered what I multi quoted but it didn't appear :o

You asked if anyone else was using parents as childcare for working.

My mum is getting £30 a day for looking after fergus on thursdays while I see clients. We start this week. I shall probably do this up until 2 weeks before my due date if I can :)

Morning all :hello:

Good night here. I think Rhys had a bottle at midnight, stayed awake for an hour and was playing in his crib when we went to sleep, then woke me up at 6.20am :) He's now playing under his play gym, shrieking

Thankyou Weezl. We haven't discussed money in any fine detail yet. My mum originally said she didn't want anything in return except I was to provide Rhys' food so mum wasn't pureeing things (although she's looking forward to mashing banana!), but we want to give her something, or may end up saving it in an account and treating her to something bigger every so often (bargain weekend hotel breaks would go down well with my parents) :)

Just having a cuppa then going to tackle the kitchen - didn't quite get it all tidy last night :o After 12 hours in the freezer, will the purees be ready to turn out now? Need my ice cube trays back to make more! :)

Hi there, thanks for all the welcomes last night and comments.

Well, first night at home was probably what I should have expected but I dunno what is normal and what isn't at the mo and all these teary feelings which are so much worse at night probably due to lack of sleep/hormones changing. Anyway, did anyone else feel despairing getting used to being up during the night with angel baby that feeds and then sleeps during the day but then feeds and stays awake during the night - sound familiar anyone? I love my baby to bits but there were points last night when I did wonder how I was gonna cope and it's only Day/Night 1 at home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!.

Harry is sleeping right now following his 8am feed, I should be sleeping shouldn't I? Dafto!
