Ooo- what an interesting job!! Do you work in German or English?

I think once you are on the way to work you switch into work mode (possibly as a way of blocking out mummy mode :o) but so far I haven't struggled.

LOL at nighttime nappies! I know Krystal uses disposables at night...a few of my RL mummy friends do too, may be an option?

Mostly English, MFD, but when I interact with patients and colleagues there's some German involved. All my written stuff is in English though.

Thanks for the mummy/work mode thoughts. I've been worried. And I think we'll be using disposables at night - although we'll test the reusable with the proper inserts tonight and see how it goes. She tends to pee a lot overnight though...
ebay buying people ... do you ever feel over whemed when looking? x

I make my search parameters very, very narrow so only a relatively small number of things pop up. Otherwise I get annoyed.

    Molly's 58cm at 13 weeks and is on the 50th percentile :)

  • I think Keira is just under the 50th centile for height, think she's about 92CM? So roughly same height as Chris Sami :) Why isn't she growing? LOL

MFD - What's wrong with Cheerios? I'm sure they have some vitamins in them....iron? Keira scoffs them a lot, but her fave is weetabix! Can't believe she likes weetabix (obv no sugar) but won't eat any sort of junk food, milkshake, pizza, crisps, burgers etc Not that I'm complaining of course, but she is an odd one!

Buttons - I don't know of anything wrong with Cheerios! But I remember someone saying that babies (so I guess under 1) can eat readybrek and weetabix but shouldn't have other breakfast cereals.

:shhh: don't tell anyone but sometimes I let him have some of my shreddies!! I just love the way that the little square fits neatly in his open mouth :rotfl:

It's due to the ammount of salt and sugar in 'grown up' cereals

I think the maccy's I let him have every so often prob does much more damage than his Cheerios habit though - at least they swim in milk:D

Must be the sugars in them I guess? I was giving Keira rice krispies at 9months, poo poo to me :p Sometimes I think what they tell you is a load of bull.

For instance, that whole dont eat nuts whilst pregnant thing will give your child an allergy, if anything I would think it would make them tolerate them? Makes sense to me. Be interesting to see what the allergy rate for nuts compared to the Uk and the USA and Canada, as peanut butter is given to kids under 1 there for snacks.

Was talking to the polish lady at Keira's nursery, the nursery is up stairs so its a right chew on if you have a baby too, he's such a complacent little boy she can leave him in the pram whilst popping Anya into nursery, I was coo'ing over him earlier, really is gorgeous and so is little Anya, she's like a angel. Anyhow, she was telling me she was worried cause he's 8months and not sitting or crawling etc yet, he's happy just lying there. I told her not to worry, and maybe he's just lazy, it's normal though isn't it? She was talking about a bumbo but I don't think she can affford one. Is it wrong that I'm tempted to buy her one? Would probably seem offensive in some way though!

Buttons the peanut thing has changed again, now you should only avoid nuts if there are allergies in the family, I ate nuts even though we have tonnes of allergies coz I figured the odds were that the boys would have allergies no matter what I did - you can't fight DNA :p

Fitz I ment to say before of course she is normal the centile charts show AVERAGE weights/lengths etc. of 'normal' babies ;) so as long as she's on there somewhere she's normal

do you understand how they work? it's very simple once you know but not obvious unless you know your GSCE stats lingo :)

Thanks Sami. Yes, I know how they work. I was joking about her not being normal - I am not the type to worry about stuff like that anyway, just surprised that she is very tall.

That was the old guidelines re peanuts whilst pregnant. It changed again in August so there are currently no recommendations from the government.

    I did wonder
This is an emotive subject so I am treading carefully...
I want Benjamin to be cared for in a home environment that is similar to what he would have with me had I not gone back to work.
I want a consistent carer in his life who will become as much a part of his family as any other relative.
I want Benjamin to experience the day to day things that make up real life - going shopping, to the doctors, waiting in for the plumber - that he would never experience if he went to nursery.
I don't want him, whilst he is a baby, to be part of a large group of children of a similar age - childminders can only have 1 child under 1 at any time. That is not to say that I don't want him socialising with other children, because he will when the CM takes him to playgroups etc, I just don't want him in a peer group on a full-time basis.
I want him to learn to play with other children of all ages, not to be grouped by age.
(I may be into preconceptions here) I want him to have his bum changed and nose wiped and be fed when he needs it, not because it is 'that' time in the nursery day :o
And finally - I think that our kids are in a 'school'-type environment for a long, long time so if I can delay that I will.

I will stop there before I get into trouble! There are downsides to CM too but they are (IMHO) about practicality and money and not wanting to be inconvenienced, not about the love and care that your child receives.

MFD - After reading this I am swaying towards a CM even though I can use the creche at work & it might be cheaper. Thanks for sharing your thoughts :A

ASDA done £120 between 3 of us so am hoping it lasts a month but that might be wishful thinking! Just need to cook it all now!
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?

hello all - been a busy few days here. House is looking cleaner though. Dinner all done and dusted, LO fed and ours is ready for when Hubby gets in. I'm feeling all organised tonight. LO still bothered at night with her teeth and so I've got large dark circles today....anyway. Bathtime is going to be 6pm tonight as the poor wee thing is almost ready to drop. Any earlier though and I'd be up even earlier than normal!!!

cherrios etc - I think sugar is an issue, but the big one is the hidden salt, which is why cereals are not recommended for babies under 1yr.

Will try and read back later once LO in bed :D I feel I'm missing out on the gossip and then can fill you in on mine :D
