The only thing I have is a "child's diary" in which I can write her immunisations and her weight if I get her weighted at the baby clinic, but nothing that I can check her measurements against? I asked the health visitor about her length and she said the doctor would check her length at 6 week check up which he did, but he never wrote it down for me or gave me a chart. I thought he would have.

Csh - do you have a different book? I just wondered if we get different things in Scotland as a lot of what I read probably only applies to England. Should I have a different book and should I have charts to plot her growth on?

I have the red book which has everything your "childs diary" has plus the charts and things. Its about A5 size and ring bound? HV told me that either her or doc will plot the charts tho and i don't need too

Csh – hello! :wave:Nice to see you here. Hope you pop on more often. I was wondering how you are doing. No advice re sling/baby carrier. I have been considering getting one myself, but don’t know where to start.

Holly and I had our 6 week post natal check up today. Does everyone have a red book with their baby’s measurements plotted on percentile charts? I don’t have this and I want one. Apparently Holly is on the 99th percentile for her length!! You can’t get much longer than that. She is normal for weight and head circumference though. But I don’t have the measurements written anywhere as the doctor just looked on his own chart. She is now 61cm long and is 7 weeks tomorrow. He was happy with her development and said she interacted with him as he would expect a 3 month old baby to do so. Clever girl!!! I am very pleased with her so will have to reward her later with lots of kisses and splashes in the bath. :T

The redbook is called "Personal Child Health Record" maybe they don't have them in scotland ?? I got mine for Ed from the MW just after he was born but from the HV's first visit with Chris

There are online versions of the ones for BF babies I'm sure the others are too. Are you BFing? I can post the link if I go on the other computer :)

  • Feely - glad you have moved forward a little, keep going hun. It sounds like you have the wrong email address for your HV to me?? Or she could be off on sick leave? Please call someone.
WRT surestart centres - you can go anywhere!!! I have never been to my local one but use several others regularly. They don't even ask where you are from most of the time!

What are you looking for support on? Is Toby still biting?

Well, this could have been a whole lot more embarrassing had the last person I phoned on my mobile not been OH. We decided to have some adult cuddles and I must have used my phone to light up the room to check on Jack - what I didn't know was I had called the last caller and OH turned his phone on to a rather lengthy voicemail :o
Am so glad BIL was here cos it meant I was quiet! Imagine if the last person I had called was my Dad

    :T:T CLASSIC :T:T

Benjamin just napped for over 2 hours  which would be lovely if it was one of the occasions that I put him down and came to catch up on here or did some stuff...however, I had a shower and then went to lay in the bed with him because he normally wakes up soon after I have finished showering!! Nearly 2 hours wasted - well not wasted because I was watching my baby sleep - I could have done allsorts in that time

I'm in Scotland and everyone gets a red book. Not sure why you haven't though? It's where all the notes get written in so you should

Thanks all. Definitely don't have the red book, and no-one has written any notes anywhere for me. The only thing I have is the Childhood Diary (has space to mark in immunisations/weights etc but quite small) which HV gave me, but no-one has written in. In fact, I never took it with me today to doctors, but he never asked about it or wrote anything down. I think I will ask HV about it as I want to have a record of her development!

Sami - I am not breastfeeding but eventually managed to find an online percentile chart. Not easy to find! I have a friend who is a child dietician and she got one from her work as she has just had a baby too, so might be able to get me one. I will text her just now actually and ask if she has the mysterious red book!
