Hi everyone...
Elle - Good idea about the coloured milk pots:)
SB - what a scary experience, glad all is not too serious!
SS - Weel done for keeping your cool with your brother, maybe next time you can get your mum over on her own...
Sami - Cheating, buying webbooks and iphones without hubby knowing!!!!!
Tink - Glad the christening went well:)
Yay another very successful dinner time, we ALL had steak pie, boiled spuds, carrots broccolli and gravy...Kai LOVED it:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D He then had a yoghurt and a biccie afterwards:D Oh and the sudocrem seems to have nearly cleared Kai's sore bum:)
We also had a very productive decorating day, track taken off ceiling and floor, skiting boards on, plastering big gigantic gaps in the bottom of wall and one roll of lining paper up:D
I am absolutely exhausted now though and so want to go to bed...I think I will have an hour when I have put Kai in at 7(ish) and let the boys play on the PS3 for an hour.....That way I can let them sleep in our bed again and we can (hopefully) finish the papering!!!! Decorating always seem like a good idea at the time......

You've done really well with the breast feeding Claire. Not many people keep up with it for that long.
Having a bit of a Christmas wobble about my brother. Last year I suggested just spending up to a fiver on the adults as a token gift, then buying as normal for the children. I assumed it would just continue like that each year.
I've bought their gifts and spent around £30 on their daughter. I kept asking for ideas but both him and SIL kept saying "errr dunno" so I've ended up buying two tops and some pyjama's with characters my niece likes on, and two Mr Maker craft kits as she likes making things.
He's since spoken to my Mam and said they'd already bought me more expensive gifts for Craig and me as they thought the fiver thing was just a one off. He's also spent about £40 each on my three children.
It's a bit awkward as I feel we should keep gifts even-ish, but I know they are on considerably more income than us. I know he's a higher rate tax payer as I helped him sort his tax out, and he's mentioned before they earn too much to get any tax credits.
Probably's worrying about nothing, but I know they always look down their nose at us, and I didn't want to look like a cheapskateHere I go again on my own....0 -

The spending though, well I have no excuse I'm a shopoholic!0 -
Becs, I have a kids only rule and no more than £10 on each child, my brother likes to stick to £5 which is fine. OH's family thought it odd but I think we spend too much at Xmas and it's all getting a bit carried away.
Apart from MIL of course.Too many children, too little time!!!0 -
Sami, Ben says your fish in tanks 1 and 3 need feeding. XToo many children, too little time!!!0

Beccles - I don't really think about the money I spend on Christmas gifts and would never think to compare what I bought to what someone bought for me IYSWIM.
I always buy the kids a book (or a collection of books) and a toy. But thanks to MSE I rarely pay 'full price' for anything (this year is probably an exception because I haven't had the time to surf for bargains).
I would hate for my rellies to think that I was looking down on them because I earn more money or because I (appear to) have spent more on gifts.
We don't buy for the adults in hubbys family and I buy nominally for my brother and SIL (our side of the family is much smaller!!). Although I do normally get a box of chocs for SIL and BIL on hubbys side (usually thorntons on a deal!!)
What a load if useless waffle!
Just give them what you have bought and stuff it. Then say on the day 'I thought the rules were a fiver each?' then they will look silly not youplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
oh Beccles I'm sure its fine could you maybe get your mam to slip into conversation with them that you feel uncomfortable getting expensive gifts? or have a look to see if there's any glitches for somethingg, a cheap bottle of champers can look like you've spent more than you have
Mel i forgot to say yey for Kai eating again and I think you're crazy decorating around 3 kids while pg I found it hard enough when I was pg with Chris x0 -
i had my car insurance docs through the door today, and they have put down "1 claim/loss, malicious damage, our driver at fault" does that mean they have put down that i am at fault for my car being keyed??Mummy to

Thanks Sami.
She has lost 4 babies already and this is the first time she has got this far so I'm very reluctant to give my opinion in case something was to happen, I'd never forgive myself. i'll send her your links and let her make up her own mind.
Hugs to all and I'm around for a bit now in between catching up on sky plus, keeping an eye on a suddenly sleepy Kezia and trying to finish that stitching that I've been trying to finish for last 3 months.
I'm off to nearby little town tomorrow for some more Xmas shopping and I've decided to try the wrap again weather permitting. I really need to get some bigger coats now its cold, nothing fits around my huge BFing boobies.
