Carla I have no head hair at all, nor eyebrows/eyelashes. But, alopecia being the PITA that it is still have to shave my legs etc:rolleyes: Have you spoke to your GP about it at all? Their are some treatments available but its very hit and miss who they work for, some people have great results and others none at all. Their arent any proven treatments for alopecia and the stage mine is at and having had it so long means Im pretty much stuck with it so just have to get the best wigs I can afford. Its still upsetting after 25 years having it so I know where your coming from, its definately worth speaking to someone though.

SS - they said it could have been stress but at 4 I wasnt really stressed about anything! My mum was quite poorly when pregnant with me and ended up on 4 x recommended dosage of medication which they also think could have something to do with it.

I'm sure Andrew is progressing loads Tigs, you maybe just don't see or notice it? He could be learning to roll his tongue, or maybe one time he managed to scratch an itch of his. He's 16weeks, don't fret!! My friends baby is almost 1 year old and can't sit unaided/crawl/doesnt even have a tooth. She isn't worried (and I think he's just very lazy!)
  • Thanks Jillie, SS & Boo - yes, Andrew was originally due on 3 November so pretty close to your little monkey.

It's just that there aren't really any progress reports to give. He's not particularly cooing or making noises. He's learning that sucking on his hands is comforting, but struggles to hold his hands up to his mouth unless he's on his belly. I think he's beginning to find it frustrating being in the moses basket, as he can't see us out of the sides, but he doesn't really like being on his floor playmat or in his freecycled bouncy chair, and he can't have his new cushion or activity chair until he opens his Christmas presents! I think I'm just a little sad and frustrated that he doesn't seem to be progressing right now.

Sorry to hear you are feeling sad and frustrated.

I'm sure he will show improvements, it's just about waiting .

My twins were born early (3 and a bit weeks) but not as early as yours and fortunately grew up fine, silly giggles aside ;)

Keep us all up to date with Andrew's progress as we are all interested. Anything, seemingly small or not, we've all been there.

I'm not overly into baby pics either, been there done that, hope not to go there again, although if I do, i'm not really the sharing of baby pics kind.

Take care and remember to keep us updated :)

Tigs, I found that quite frustrating with Molly too, but she seems to have spurts of new things and then seems to coast for a while and enjoy doing all her new stuff.

Rhys does this too.. The novelty of starring at his hand has been going on for months now - you'd think he's be bored of it by now, it always looks the same!

Tigs, I'm sure he's just doing it all at his own pace.. "Andrew rules" like we have "Rhys' rules (and lines on the growth charts!)" ;) Are the hospital giving you any support? I found the visiting physio and nurses so helpful. Books just made me worry cos Rhys doesn't seem to do things in their order

Zzzzzzz :D back from my nap. Was good but am still tired let's see if I get an early night??

On the subject of hair loss my DH shouts at me as I keep blocking up the plughole (oops), ah well, in a way it helps me as my hair is rather thick, but I don't want to make light of anyone else who is having problems.

Right I'm away to make Daniel some tea, not sure what though as
I don't have much in

The outreach midwives just keep telling me that "he's doing fine" I've given up reading books or googling, but there's no avoiding this thread :o

Tigs he's doing amazingly well, as elle says he'll work to Andrews rules.

OH's back, he passed his CBT :j Going to see if I can transfer Isla to him without tears, the moses basket is obviously the work of the devil as she's refusing to go in there

There's no comparison to make between Andrew and any other baby here though too.. none of them have been through what Andrew has, same as none have been through the same as Rhys and even two babies born on the same day, at the exact same gestation will be very different due to their environment and experiences.. :)

I do know what you mean, I can't deny that I don't look on in slight envy (and joy at her achievement, don't get me wrong!) at Krystal's Caitlyn sitting in front of the tumble dryer - mostly because I have so many nice toys waiting for when Rhys can sit up properly! :o But then again, Rhys is actually so much younger than Caitlyn, despite a few days between their birthdays, and I just have to remind myself of that... ;) Same as any other baby born around Rhys' original due date - they might be doing "more" than Rhys now, but then they were comfy in a womb for nine whole months, and not having to put a hell of a lot more effort in with breathing on their own and digesting food etc etc than Rhys (and Andrew) were when they were already in the outside world..

Am I making any sense or just waffling now? :)
