elle, hello! Are you still feeling a little quiet? We miss you :)

can I ask a boring question of your work brain?

When employers need to respond to a request for flexible working arrangements within 28 days legally, do you happen to know if that's 28 real days or is it 28 working days excluding any statutory closing.

But no, I don't just love you for your HR knowledge I promise :):o

Well get this for annoying....If I hadn't of handed my notice in and had just left my maternity leave to run to the end, I could have walked back in in January, as that is when the 12mths are up!!!!

As it is I handed it in to allow them to employ someone else and not be left short any longer than need be. It is only a small pharmacy I worked in and so only about 5 p/t counter staff and a couple of f/t dispensing staff. Hence the minute I formally left, they found a replacement, meaning there is no job there now.....Also as they kow I am pregnant I doubt they would employ me even if a position came up as I would only be there a few months and off on maternity leave again!!! If a position came up after I have had the baby then I am sure they would have me back as we are all still very good friends:)

    I am so silly:(

To be 100% truthful I went to uni as I feel I need to be the one to get qualified and get a career because I don't believe dh will ever achieve this. I know it is a terrible thing to have absolutely no faith in one's own husband, but I know what he is like. My dad told me he was a waster and 15yrs later, and as much as I hated my dad I am beginning to think he was right:( I will continue my studies with the Open University and I will strive to get a career for myself so that the kids and I can have a decent future (whatever the outcome of my marriage). I have always been ambitious and that is not going to change, I want a better life for us and to prove to my kids that it is possible to achieve if you work hard enough at it and don't give up:)

Sorry, all went a bit deep there for a moment:o

you're a great role model mel, all your 4 will be ambitious hard-workers I know :)

Is it DHs illness and meds or he just hasn't found his niche in life? Although not unambitious, my DH hasn't got as much 'drive' as me. I think men who are quite laid back are often attracted to women who are go-getters and vice versa. A bit like a way of balancing it out in each other.

My DH often says if we are a car, then I am the engine and he is the breaks :rotfl:

Hugs anyway, cos it sounds like you're very frustrated with his inertia at the moment. :(

ooh weezl can i jump on your question too? I want to request flexibe working too. i askedf my manager at work who said to put it in an email. now she is renowned for sitting on emails and doing nothing about them. if they have not replied within 28 days what happens then? do you automatically get the request granted?

Sorry - realised you were asking elle!
