  • Hi ladies - long time lurker.

Joined Sw in November and have lost 1st 4lb - so really pleased. Anyway - I am stuck, and hoping the fountain of knowledge here can help!

my brother is coming over for dinner on Friday, and said it would be nice to have an indian takeaway - yum, haven't had one in ages - choosing tandori king prawn for main course, and will have a huge salad with it instead of rice, but I could kill for a prawn puree - but want to be able to syn it out! Any ideas?

    Thanks so much in advance.

So we are all eating for our various areas:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I have learnt my lesson, feel lousy with not listening to the diabetic numbers and giving them food they want to be level so today is a back to normal day, not weighing in because I don't want any more misery:rotfl:but by next week it will be gone so that is my pledge to myself, welcome back veg:rolleyes::D

-1lb for me, making it a total loss, to date, of 12lbs. I WILL make it to a stone loss by Christmas! :D

Still sticking to my frugal portion control each day but things went astray a bit over the past week with my 'nothing after 9pm (should really be 8pm)' rule. I had a relapse of late night munchitis. :o

  • Hi all and happy Wednesday!

Happy to report a -1LB LOSS for me this week Fred!! :D By my calculations that means I've hit my target of losing 1 stone by Xmas so pleased with that. Trick now will be to keep it off and not go too mad over Xmas but I'm now so in the habit of not mixing carbs and fats and staying away from processed foods that I'm quite optimistic about not doing too much damage. I know that it'll only take one binge session to fall off the wagon but my motivation is that I'll probably feel so sick afterwards it should put me off trying!

All very quiet on the job front still  though I got another "holding call" yesterday asking me to be patient as the hiring manager has been off with flu for the last week but that they definitely do want to see me again. It could be the new year now before anything happens - I'm starting to think that this is all just a test of my character!!

    Morning all,
I didn't get to weigh in this morning, because we all got up late after the alarm failed to go off! Mad rushing around, and I've just remembered, but it's too late now as I've had 2 cups of tea and my breakfast already. Will have to suffice with a STS. I've not been too bad foodwise this week, so think that would be a fair reflection on the truth.

I do think the Christmas season is particularly difficult to contend with when dieting, because there are the parties/lunches, and all the planning ahead of menus, and buying in treats for family and visitors. I've been buying in provisions for Christmas since October, and whilst we don't entertain on a major level, we do have to spread the cost of providing for 6-8 of us on a daily basis over the festive period. I'm making room in my freezer for the Turkey this week, as they seem to be half price in some of the supermarkets, but give it another 10 days and they'll be back up to full price again. I just don't want to use Christmas as an excuse to eat far too much, and then regret it come the week after Christmas day.

Well done with the losses guys, and for those, like me, who are struggling a bit, try to balance the treats with controlling portion sizes may help:confused: That's what I'm doing, and trying to use my smaller plate at mealtimes to help me, even if the food choices aren't always that good.

    Healthy Weight Loss Tips

The following weight loss tips can have a dramatic effect if applied correctly. You will lose weight and improve your health if these tips are used in conjuction with a good diet.

Generally, most people want to see quick results. We believe 'patience is the virtue' of course coupled with hard work and good plan of action. The few tips here could have you laughing to sucess if followed correctly.

    1. Firstly, drink a lot of water. It is recommended to drink up to eight glasses of water a day. We all know the effect and goodness of water to our bodies, but yet most people shy away from drinking water.

    2. Secondly, eat plenty of fruit and vegetables; ideally 7-9 portions of a varierty of fruit and vegetable.
Cut back on breads and pastas. The importance of fruit and veg cannot be over-emphasised. Eating lots of fruit and veg reduces your chances of developing heart disease, bowel cancer or stroke. Fruit and Veg are low in fat; low in calories but are filling; they contain vitamins and minerals required to keep you healthy and they also help with constipation problems

    3. Our final weight loss tip is to break your food intake to several small meals. Avoid large plates of food and eat in moderation. Smaller meals will keep your metabolism on the high and help you lose weight.Though quite obvious, it is important to state that you need to avoid sugary food and drinks. They are high in calories and can cause weight gain. It is pointless taking smaller amount of foods without reducing the sugar content.

By applying these methods to your diet scheme, you will lose weight and improve your health. This would lead to a reduction in heart disease, stroke and diabetes in addition to helping combat obesity.

Can you put me down for 1.5 lb gain this week please Fred (hanging my head in shame) - my only excuse is it was my birthday at the weekend and OH took me out for a lovely meal so I'll live with the weight gain, he bought me new gym clothes so I've no excuses now.

    Hola

We both did better this week - 2.25 lbs loss for me, and 1.5lbs loss for Superman :) We haven't been back to keep fit as the instructor has taken a week off, but we have been out cycling a couple of times so that has obviously helped.

We're heading back to the UK for a few days later today and I probably won't have access to the internet again until Tuesday, so I'll say thanks for the chart in advance and wish everyone the best with their weigh ins this week.

    Adios! :)
