victory - thanks for asking re the job, I hadn't posted cos I was feeling a little bit disheartened, but here goes...(this is also completely off topic, nothing to do with LW unless you count calories lost via nervous tension )

I got a call from the recruitment consultant Monday morning confirming my afternoon interview and he told me that the person who saw me orignally had been moved onto another department so the person I was seeing Monday was now the new line manager for the role. He also confirmed that I was the only candidate from his shortlist that was still in it.....

So I went along and had a good meeting, the new man saying that I have an "almost perfect" cv for the role. I also saw a second person and had a good chat with him, another 2.5 hours gone by. At the end the first guy said that he still wanted to have one or two more people on the final short list so was going back to the consultant to find some more candidates. I had to bite back some sharp replies along the lines of - my first meeting was on 12 November, it's been nearly 2 months now, you've now had 3 meetings and 6 or 7 hours with me, there's nothing else I can tell you about myself, what's the hold up etc etc. I managed to keep my cool but it was all I could do to keep my shoulders from sagging. By the time I got home I'd come to the conclusion that this new guy wasn't all that impressed with me and wanted to keep his options open.

Then I got a call last night from recruitment guy saying that he'd had very positive feedback from Monday, I was definitely through to the final stage and repeating that he'd been asked to find more candidates. But whatever happens there will be decision by end of Jan at the latest PLUS I need to have one final meeting, this time with the UK CEO.

I'm trying to stay non-chalant but I badly want this job, not just for the money but because I think I'd be really good at it. But I am wondering what they'll be like to work for if they take this long to make decisions?? Anyhoo, I will keep looking around for other jobs cos part of me thinks this one isn't going to happen.

victory - I read all your other posts about your tribulations at work, your boss sounds like a bit of a tool, how are you getting on now?

Hezza - a breadmaker would be disasterous for me & weight loss. Way too yummy.

Ordinarily I would agree with you but all my reading shows that home made bread is much better for you than shop bought, so long as you don't pig out on it. I will be making white bread for OH & kids and wholemeal/brown/seeded bread for me, ideal for dunking in veggie soup as it will be "good carbs" with minimal fat (just a spoonful of butter in the recipe), exactly as my diet plan says :D

Fred thanks for the pink and can you put me down for -2.5 lbs please :j:j:j
Not been on for a few days but Victory big hugs for the job hassle and good luck for you 10lb loss.

Hope you're all keeping safe and warm. Must admit the snow is not too bad up here. The side roads are a bit dodgy but the main roads are all clear. Today was the first day OH train was cancelled but the later one ran so I don't think it was snow related.
Hezza - mmmm home made bread. I have a bread maker but everytime i use it the loaf vanishes way too quickly mmm hot bread and butter mmmm. Good luck with the job - fingers crossed for you.
hello all newbees and good luck to you all. Mic2904 you should speak to Nykmedia - she has a sweet weakness and should be able to give you some great tips.

That was Victory, not me margaret. Although I must admit to having seen the same offer in Sainsburys this week, and I did consider buying them for the children, and then thought better of it. They don't need to eat any more bread, and the temptation for me to have had one or two would have been too great.

So, I did see the hot cross buns, and thought exactly the same thing. We've only just had Christmas for goodness sake! They also have extra stocks of Cadbury Creme Eggs, can you believe that? Shocking. My friend's daughter works in Sainsburys, and was told that after Christmas they would be making room in the storage area for the Easter eggs that will be coming in soon.

Do other countries have supermarkets like our's do you think? I lived in Belgium a few years back, and they definitely weren't like this.

I agree with you Victory that the BOGOF deals can be either a false economy, where you end up throwing stuff away (if it's perishable, tins are fine), or can be a diet downfall.

Well done Victory, Rosie, peppop, granny, BB and margaret for your losses/STS's.

    Hola

Reporting in with the post Christmas weigh in, which is not great for either of us! Sorry Fred, I've only got a few minutes on line and haven't time to look at the chart to work out how much we've gained, but my total weight loss is now 3lbs, and OH's total weight loss is now 3.5lbs.

    See you all again soon.
