Is the penny bazaar really busy? Never been to one before. If I have to wait in a masive queue I will not bother.
Massively busy if you go to a big store like I did, someone near me went to a smaller store (which I didn't think would be doing it!) and said it was only a small queue so it does depend

I was wondering the same thing too, so googled it and found this press release from M&S:
http://corporate.marksandspencer.com/investors/press_releases/company/PennyBazaar
It implies that the penny bazaar will be open to the public on Friday 13th. My local store opens at 9am so no doubt the crowds will be there waiting.0 -

Christmas Penny Bazaar products will be available at 40 selected Simply Food stores and eight selected M&S Outlets on Friday 13th November only. They will not available from other M&S stores or M&S franchise stores at BP Connect Forecourts, Railway Stations, Airports or Moto Motorway Service Stations.0 -

Anyone can put an entry in Wikipedia and there is no check on authors' knowledge or opinions, so whilst being very democratic, Wikipedia is by no means authoritative and can be highly dubious. Have you never come across a person who passionately holds views that would be considered at best eccentric, at worst downright odd? I am sure they would get much satisfaction putting an entry in Wikipedia.
I am sure there is a lot of good stuff in there, and the article you provide a link to certainly looks like it has been written by someone in the know, but since it has few checks and balances I would not quote Wikipedia with a triumphant flourish.0 -
why is it that people with disabilities complain about being discriminated against but want special priory over things like this i know that its harder for people in wheelchairs to access places when theres a sale and i dont condone the bullying people that barge there way in but just cas you have a disability it shouldn't mean you go/get first dips i to use buses and have a buggie and its hard trying to get on a bus and put the buggie down when you have a child and shoping to contend with i avoid going on a bus as much as pos
Its attitudes like this that make me sick, for the last time its unlawful for companies to not grant fair access to disabled people, by making very ill people queue to participate in such promotions is immoral , unreasonable and therefore unlawful, would you like it if you were barged and knocked to the floor like I was in the boots sale last year. It took me over a month to go into the store again because It traumatized me. You take people's independence away from them if they feel threatened of fearful to go into stores for such promotions. Its up to the company in this instance Marks And Spencers to provide a service level to those provided to for abled bodied people.
Whilst families with babies have problems you dont suffer from a disability that is the difference, you cannot compare your problems to that of a person in wheelchair or disability. We are protected by law and Marks and Spencers last time out flouted it, my original post was not intended to offend but to warn disabled people of the trouble they may face on the day and raise the question to companies failing to keep to the laws of the land and assist disabled and vunerable shoppers.
Without raising these issues nothing will be done and disabled people will continue to feel social hermits. I am looking forward to this event lets hope they organise it better for people like me.0 -
[I don-'t think all stores are participating in the loyalty promotion which might explain why some people are not getting invites. There is a Public Event on the Friday which I think is offering the same items as Wednesday where you can have 5 items and donate to the chosen charity which is the Poppy appeal-hopefully people will donate more than the 1p per item!
QUOTE=Floozie;26485205]The event on the Wednesday is called the Loyalty Event and is for cardholders. It runs from 1pm to 9pm with people getting invites to a particulat slot, eg 3-5 or 7-9.There is a public event on the Friday with the same format as the previous penny bazaar. The gifts include teatowels, mugs, handkerchiefs, truffle logs, could not see any jewellery or purses on the offer.
The Loyalty Preview Event in 134 stores is for card holders who have received invitations in the post from the company. The invitation is for a 2hour slot between the hours of 1 and 9pm. The recipients will be able to choose 5 out of 14 items for 1p under the banner 'Don't ask the price it's a penny.' You can donate more than the 1p per item as the money raised goes to the Poppy appeal because it is Armistice day.
Items include mini yule logs, chocoaltes, tea towels, notebooks, mugs, money tins, ties, socks, handkerchiefs, knickers, trolley key rings, puzzles and card games.
The Public Event starts on the Friday in 368 stores on the basis on a when its gone, it's gone basis. Money donated on the Friday event goes to the store's chosen local charity.0 -

So, only 134 out of the 368 are holding cardholder events. That will explain why some people have been sent an invite to a store they don't always shop at, just the nearest participating one to them.. I suggest that if you are a card holder and don't have an invite take your card as proof of eligibility and ask a member of staff for one. They have some in store to give out to new card holders and for people who have been disrupted by the post.0 -

Excellent point. However, what I should have said first time is that low floor buses are a direct result of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. This is why the London Routemaster buses were almost all taken out of service (a few still work intermittently on 2 heritage routes), because they don't offer access to wheelchair users. Non wiki link containing further info on access for Disabled people on public transport:
http://dptac.independent.gov.uk/pubs/smallbus2007/index.htm#11
I don't have an issue with women with buggies coming on buses but the space is specifically for wheelchairs. In fact in Edinburgh they went as far as to ban women from wheeling their prams on as some people were refusing to give up the space for wheelchair users.
Sorry again to go OT...I am able bodied but nobody knows what's round the corner. The babies in prams grow up - but the people in wheelchairs will always need them. So of course they should take priority.0 -
Am i right in thinking you are only allowed to buy 5 items?:heart2:Mummy to a beautiful little girl:heart2:
£2014 in 2014 challenge. £71/£20140 -
i will assume that because is a cardholder event it will be more organized, hopefully0
