Excellent point. However, what I should have said first time is that low floor buses are a direct result of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. This is why the London Routemaster buses were almost all taken out of service (a few still work intermittently on 2 heritage routes), because they don't offer access to wheelchair users. Non wiki link containing further info on access for Disabled people on public transport:

    http://dptac.independent.gov.uk/pubs/smallbus2007/index.htm#11

I don't have an issue with women with buggies coming on buses but the space is specifically for wheelchairs. In fact in Edinburgh they went as far as to ban women from wheeling their prams on as some people were refusing to give up the space for wheelchair users.

Sorry again to go OT...I am able bodied but nobody knows what's round the corner. The babies in prams grow up - but the people in wheelchairs will always need them. So of course they should take priority.

    Hiya, Scots resident here

This claim about Edinburgh buses is untrue, the rule in Edinburgh is that the pram user may ride in the space but must fold up/dismantle the pram or get off if a wheelchair user needs the space.

Because of the controversy this caused the new buses (no 22s) have 1 space for a wheelchair user and 1 for a buggy/pram. these spaces are clearly labeled and a photo campaign featuring a mother and baby and disabled person accompanied the launch.

So if you didnt recieve an invite can you go into store with your card and ask for one??
  • Got mine in the post today for between 7pm - 9pm. Will give it a go as it's got to be better than the last one when I got 3 tins of ginger beer and 2 bags of sweets, lol.

Ever since I changed to not recieving paper statements I never get anything sent through anymore!! They make it out as if Im helping to save the environment etc and they email me when my statement is available to view online but because of that I dont get any extra points vouchers etc sent through. I did get them the other day though but it said in it "welcome to your yearly statement" !! Think I will be changing back to recieving statements as I am missing out on lots of extra points because of this! And now will only get my money off vouchers once a year also!!
So I assume I wont be recieving an invite for the penny bazaar either!

I went to paperless statements last year and still recieve all the vouchers and things like this invitation as before.

I have checked my invite and it's for the full 1-9pm. Not sure when will be better time but probably around school pick up and before 5pm.

Thanks, now I can plan what I want :D

Last time I went with the intention of only paying 1p for each item, it was only when I got there that it was advertised that the money was being raised for charity so when I got to the end I put all my change in (which was probably £3ish) I wish they'd made that clear and I still think they haven't made it clear enough this time, which is a marketing boo-boo.

Having looked at the list of things I don't think it is any big deal. I would probably use up more petrol getting there than I'd save on the 1p items.
