  • Now I need to find a use for 2 jacket potatoes baked last night but not eaten. Hmm. I shall have a look around on the site and see what I can find. I definitely want to use them as I hate throwing stuff away.

Kitchenbunny you can freeze cooked jacket potatoes, and then use them at a later date.

Hello all from another OSer with lashing rain & wind outside  It's not cool enough to put the heating on although I'll have to as the washing won't dry inside without it. A lazy day here as tea is a previously frozen HM potato hash with crusty bread to mop all the gravy up with.

Smoky I hoover daily too as it would resemble a dog hair covered wooden floor if not. The dust bunnies of dog hair soon build up if I'm not careful  Plus the children seem to track all sorts in on their shoes

You are very naughty mentioning more cookery books :p;) I'm trying to cut down on them but it's so tempting. I like reading them like a novel from start to finish so am a sucker for all sorts :o

NPM & Bitsy I remember the 5am starts so well so you have my sympathy. We've got it the other way now as the older 2 regularly go out and come in during the early hours which wakes me up again. Last night DS2 woke me at midnight, DD at 2am (she was returning from work so I'll let her off!) and DS1 rolled in at 5am having rang me as he'd forgot his keys  He, of course, is still asleep while I'm trying to keep my eyes pinned open!

Cranky Glad your sisters coming down.

The trick or treaters last night were a lovely, polite, young bunch I must say. DH had his face painted in a ghoulish white/red combo and DS3 even put fake (non toxic) blood on the dogs faces :rotfl: There was a bowl of sweets left but DS3 in his wisdom snuck it upstairs & left it on his bed so the minute the Labrador got up there she scoffed the lot. Picking up after her will be interesting in the next few days as she ate the packets, lolly sticks and everything ;)

DH has had the dogs out for 3 hours this morning so I am hoping to get some cross stitch done this afternoon once I've chased up homework & polished the shoes ready for tomorrow.

Have a good day all :A

    Hi,
Well the rain has finally stopped lashing at the windows and doggies revving up for a walk with kids dad. I have had a pottering type day. We made a huge lasagne for lunch with 3 portions for the freezer. We also made a pumkin pie which turned out well but very sweet. Im giving it to my mum as she has a sweet tooth. Im organised and up-to-date with ironing thanks to kids dad and house is reasonably tidy for cleaner tomorrow.

We had lots of trick/treaters and they were all very well behaved. Im hoping for a quieter week as kids back at school/college.

    Have a restful sunday,
    Molly
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Afternoon all
Curlytop40 - My weight loss was triggered by my LBM in May this year, We'd been to a close friend's wedding and was looking at the photos we had taken a couple of days after the wedding, I was completely horrified at how bad I looked. This was enough for me to get "my head in the zone" I knew my weight had been causing me mental issues for approx 18 months but couldn't get motivated. I'm not doing any of the well known weight loss programmes, as have been there and done that, whilst the diets are good whilst you do them if you stop the weight just piles back on and in my case a bit more too! I've made lifestyle changes with no food or drink being off limits, if I really want something I have it, enjoy it, draw a line under it and move on. I just cut out all the crap, no snacking in between meals on bad food, if I do need a snack then I have fruit or diet yogurt, no picking whilst prepping/serving/clearing away at mealtimes. Have been more careful with the food that I choose to eat. I have a big bday in Jan 2010 and know I don't want to be fat and forty, I just think it's going to be more and more difficult to lose the weight as I get older. Have now been able to get into clothes that I haven't been able to wear for 4+ years - how good does that make you feel - I just don't want to be fat anymore, I feel so much healthier in myself and I want that more than any food or drink, this I appreciate will at times be difficult especially with Christmas and a birthday coming soon, but during the time I've lost this weight we've been on holiday in France for 2 weeks, had numerous weekends away in our touring caravan (this always involves eating and drinking with friends etc!), many meals out as had a round of birthdays, retirements etc, but all of these things are part of life and have to be incorporated into your lifestyle. You have to be mentally ready to do it, I was fed up of being fat and hated clothes shopping - I decided I didn't want to live the rest of my life feeling that way.
I'm a bit late posting today but have been out for Sunday lunch, mmmm, very nice Carvery at good price, didn't have a dessert as was too full, not very OS I know, but nice treat for the end of the half term week. Having a very lazy day, bliss, kids back to school tomorrow but minder is on holiday this next week so still have another week's leave, but still have lots of jobs to do!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone, keep safe and well, hugs to those that need them.

  • Nmlc thats inspirational, especially the time that you have lost the weight in. I have been able to lose it before but slowly put it back on and am trying to do it for health reasons now as I am fat and forty! My motivation at the moment is health related and as I am a single mum I want to be healthy for my dd.
Anyway thankyou for sharing how you are doing it.

Afternoon all and what a wet, windy and miserable day it has been too.

Just had roast beef, roast pots, yorkshire pud, swede carrot, leeks and cabbage. The roast beef was not nice at all though. It was a piece of topside I picked up YS and luckily only paid a few pounds for - I am glad that I didn't pay full price for that!!!

Have done a few loads of washing which is now on the radiators and airers, I hate the wet weather when you have washing all over the house to dry.

3 christmas cakes cooling down in the kitchen (loaf tin size) handier for cutting. I usually do one round one for decorating and then loaf shaped ones for slicing up. Round one was cooked last week and is being topped up with brandy.

Downloaded a recipe from Waterstones website for cranberry chutney that I fancy having a go at (Delia recipe) sorry don't know how to do links but it is on their website. Seemingly they are going to keep posting various christmas receipes by different chefs

Anyway have a good evening all

    Evening All

Just popped in to say - Thriftlady I have preordered Pioneer Lady's cookbook.!!!! :j:j Its all your fault - I have become ever so slightly obsessed with her website after you bought it to my attention :rotfl:trouble is I think I will have to move to a ranch so I can work off all the excess weight I shall be putting on with all her recipes. Havnt seen any ranches for sale in Essex though - also OH is refusing to wear chaps. Its just not fair :D
