    Morning all,

Blowing a gale and pouring with rain here, real autumn weather, Little dog spent last night in a cardboard box turned on its side, with a peep hole cut into it, with a cushion and her toys, she hates fireworks, and needs to be covered, but needs to be able to see us too (she has issues ), I wouldnt mind so much, but the fireworks go on for about a month round here drives me

Waiting for a call from dd, to see if we need to go and collect her, I need to pop into Lidl for washing powder, so could do that while there.

Dinner today will be pasta bake at dd's request, (certainly cheaper than a roast) I will put some of the left over chili from last night into OH and mine, and we will have it with garlic bread. I need to make some cookies and cakes too.

Might do a bit of packing later, and I think a lazy day may be in order, we so rarely have them, it would do us good.

Bedding needs changing, and will hoover through.

    Have fun all xx

    morning all

we had 2 little witches and a vampire call last night, they were really sweet. I took the pumpkin out of the window and 'shut up shop' at 8pm as I dont think there would have been any more little ones coming ;)

absolutely chucking it down here, there is something comforting about being warm and cosy and looking out at the autumn weather.

going to a 1st birthday party this afternoon and really looking forward to it.

breakfast will be toast and butter

lunch will be roast beef and all the trimmings :j

and tea will be birthday cake! ( I hope)

still have washing to do but as someone else has said , i am having difficulty drying it.

    have a good day all
  • Sorry I've been MIA for a couple of days. Just had things to sort out and feeling a bit fed up with it all. :o
Apologies to any Scrabblers I have kept waiting. :p

We had a lovely day yesterday which made me count my blessings again. We carved out 2 huge pumpkins for the gateposts and I made creamy, curried pumpkin soup for lunch with crusty bread. There is loads of roasted pumpkin in the freezer for more soup. ;)
The girls and I spent all afternoon decorating the kitchen window with paper cut outs and I went over board with some black and red icing and churned out a dozen "bloody pumpkin" biscuits, a dozen "worm cakes" and 2 dozen chocolate apples. I spooked everyone by dressing up as a zombie and we lit the house by candlelight.:D It was worth it as we had lots of happy trick or treaters who had all made a great effort and were incredibly polite. My two went to a few neighbours and had a great time.
I like Halloween and have done since I was a child. :o It marks the change in the seasons for me and, like you Thrifty, any chance to feast is a good one. I like the year being split by Winter/Christmas, Spring/Easter, Summer/holidays and Autumn/Halloween.

OS wise today I need to do a roast but haven't actually bought a joint yet. I have some mending of uniforms to do and will try to get on with my knitting. The laundry is up to date which is just as well as it's tipping it down.
I am very envious of those of you with great facilities on your doorstep. I adore where we live but we are a good 100 miles for museums, bowling, big shops etc. We spend alot of time outdoors but that's not an option on a day like today.

Anyhoo... have good days everyone. xx

I'm glad your sister is coming over to help you with the next few days Cranky. x

I havent been around the last couple of days either as its my long weekend at work - 11 hours today  so will be off soon. Not much to report - not much OSing to report apart from the basics.
Sky TV still driving us mad - they've been 3 times now, twice in 1 day and its still not working:mad: 2 boxes later they are now saying its the dish:rolleyes: its 2 weeks now since it stopped working so DH has demanded some money back from them.

I hope you're all well, need to crack on with the ironing now before work.
Hope the weather's not too dire where you are - its pretty dreadful here!

    take care x

    Good morning guys,

    Rainy_day_here_.gif

That about sums up outside - I don't mind though as I spent yesterday mowing, weeding, tidying and titivating! Pity I can't sit out there to admire my handiwork though.

Plans for today - well the usual swish and swipe through and hoover up later (does any one else hoover daily?) Not much else really. I have defrosted a big tub of beef stew for tea and I think cheese (or some variation of) toasties for lunch.

The kids had a ball last night and there is now a big bowl of sweeties in the kitchen that they aquired and are desperate to tuck in to. The two eldest went off with one of their friends parents and LO and I answered the door - LO was wonderful at dishing out the sweeties and was really proud of himself.

I have broken my glasses and so am off to Asda for some new ones tomorrow. I have found six rolls of film from ages ago (don't know when actually :eek:) that need developing and have no idea what is on them. I know I took some of the back before it was done so I hope that this is where they are lurking. There may be some of Eric too. I'll see if they will put them on a disc for the pc (do they do that now?) as the scanner is broken and then I can share.

Well I'm off to do a couple of hours of ahmen!!! constructive surfing :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Gentle hugs to all the poorlies and any one else who needs one.
How are you doing pen-pin? I hope you enjoyed your holidays.
Cranky and George - thinking of you both.

    Smoky. xxxx

  • Hi guys and gals,

I've been MIA for a few weeks now (sorry :( ). I've been having a hard time with things and not had the motivation to do *anything*. I seem to have snapped out of it now and have had a better couple of days so maybe my down spell is through for a bit.

When i got home on Friday there was a package waiting for me - I hadn't ordered anything so wan't sure what it could be but when I opened it there was a beautifully wrapped beautiful hat and a lovely little letter from Haribo Junkie. Not only is the hat lovely to wear and sports a fantastic sunflower, it was so nice to receive a written letter - I can't remember the last time I had one. So a big thanks to Haribo for cheering me up :T

Today it's chucking it down with rain and I could do with being sat at home in front of the fire but as we went into town for a few drinks yesterday  we got a [STRIKE]lot[/STRIKE] bit too tipsy to go to the supermarket so I need to go today. Not a lot to get but if we want to eat this week I really should go.

[hugs] to all that need them
