                    Hi
I have quiet a few avi files on my computer and was wondering what was the best (easiest) program to use to burn them to either dvd or cd. I used to use nero to burn kvcd (i think) files to cd but have a different laptop now so am struggling a bit.
Thanks
Barrie

Is it not possible to copy them through Media Player? I know you can rip/burn MP3s to a disc but i've never tried to do it with avi files and DVDs.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. What about just sticking them on a usb stick? It saves the need to install buring software.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

what exactly do you want to do
do you want to create a DVD that will play on a domestic DVD player or simply backup (save ) the avi files0

If you want to play a video clip on your TV via a DVD payer you will need something like:
 http://www.avs4you.com/AVS-Video-Converter.aspx
That is around £40. There are some freeware progs around but none of them seem very successful or you have to load lots of other programmes as well to get them to work - maybe !0

 This is the key thing.
If you ever intend to watch them on DVD away from a PC ..they need converting before burning. If not...just burn them as data and they will be fine...in fact it's best to do that as a backup since optical discs don't last and are easy to damage.
Total Video Converter isn't bad ...it has an easy user interface and also works on other devices. Google video conversion software and you'll learn a lot more and find what you want to pay for. Some is free..no clue how well it works tho.

Sorry, should have made it a bit clearer. I want to burn the films to a disk so that the kids can watch fireman sam upstairs instead of it being on the telly all day. At the moment I run it to the telly via an xbox and xbmc which my friend set up a while ago and is amazing. We've put a little telly and dvd player in the kids room now so I was hoping to burn some of the files to disk so that they can watch them upstairs.
Thanks for all the replied by the wayI would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Ramada/Days Inn BRG thread.0

convertxtodvd is good, i used that to put a whole season of heroes onto a disc for my friend. You could get a dvd player that plays divx (also known as avi's) files and that way you wouldn't need to convert them to play on dvd players that don't play divx.Looking for good deals! 0 0
