I think that's a matter to take up with your local council. And if you get no joy from them, your MP.

Don't you think that is a bit harsh? Goldie may only have a hormone imbalance.......

  • I think we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

For me, I always use the by-pass simply because it offers a more direct route to Blackwood, as well as to Newport & Pontypool.

Personally I think there is going to be trouble on a road not far from Blackwood with boy racers - and am just surprised that someone hasn't been killed on this particular road already.
wich side the valley you on (if any)? personally i dont even acknowladge the bypass is there why should i spend more time, fuel, effort in driving around blackwood when i can drive through it!! do you drive round to avoid thos stupid speed bumps that a minority of people wanted to curb so called "boy racers" when the road was de-classified from a road to b road? and dont tell me you want a blanket ban on the road not so far away to curb so called "boy racers" there too there's a fact of life here that people dont get you stop people from going one place they will got to the next and so on and so on culture is a fact of life deal with it get used to it. christmas is coming and i dont think that ban will be inforced thursday nights for longer as many more people travle into the town late evening to do christmas shopping blackwood is heaving at the weeks before christmas even in the evenings i'd like to see em stop everyone going into town thusrday nights when theres a xmas rush on plus the factor of shops loseing trade because of it.

lol - that had occurred to me too - most of the shops will be starting late opening on Thursday and Friday evenings in a week or so. am just wondering how the police are going to sort out shoppers from boy/girl racers. who have christmas shopping to do too of course!
  • The Police do NOT have the powers to arbritarily deny access to public roads to particular sub-groups of society that they choose to single out. They DO have the powers to close roads to all road users under certain conditions, but they can't pick and choose who uses a certain road based merely on their own prejudices. There is a potential breach of the ECHR here.

yes the police is picking and chooseing who they let through. OP's son can get through with a marked works van (RPS WATER van i think op said)
if they stopped him going through and he was on official buisiness i think mr policeman would be in trouble from the intended customer and RPS.

they are picking and choosing based on vehicle and age, clearly age discrimation there. The MP involved in this balnket ban and against car enthusiasts is a local resident of the town clearly theres a personal not just local motives too.

and local residents will or have become a victim of their own creation with this blanket ban when traffic not chooseing to use bypass will use other streets Around the town causing a more traffic volume outside their houses later in thursday evenings next theyll petition for speed bumps in their streets (as if there aint enough already nearly everystreet in the the area has them) because theres higher volume of traffic on thursays bacause of the ban. seems absolutely pointless to have this blanket ban and a complete wast of police resources (as if they aint streched enough)
and a waste of public money just like the bypass not logical looks an eyesore and not wanted.
  • I'm loving reading all the comments about car "modders" I'm not into modifying cars, but a friend is, and I'm reading all the scum of the earth comments and laughing. This guy is a trainee vicar, with a wife and baby he is heavily involved in youth work and community outreach.

He skateboards and wears hoodies too :p

Fine upstanding model citizen or scum of the earth?????

If you made assumptions about people due to a headscarf or turban you'd be in trouble but it is ok if you make the assumptions due to a hoodie and baggy jeans............. SAD!

It's not "at last", it's what all the reasonable posters including the OP have been saying from post 1
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
