Hello, thanks all for the nice posts regarding the guilt of the working mother.:)
Today was another emotionally fraught day.A key member of my team handed in her notice today. She too has young kids and does 5 x 12 hour days including her commute.
She's been offered something closer to home, with shorter hours and has decided that she won't have this time with her children again. I totally agree with her, but am absolutely devastated that she is going, as she is brilliant and on a personal level I will really miss her
Prior to that, I was put in my place my my boss. I find the pettiness of office politics too hard to take at times. I'm a straight talker and not afraid to speak up for others - this sometimes does me no favours. It really galls me that others get on through BSing or a*s kissing - that is sooooo not me.
I work hard and am good at my job, but that is not enough and is clearly a threat to some......*sigh*
I feel trapped, but to find another job would mean relocating and that is not an option.
It has made me re-evaluate my life though, so driving home this evening, I decided that things have to change...........and I'm feeling strangely optimistic.
Sorry for the rant, hope you've all had a good day0 -
Re-evaluation of life is not a bad thing.......whatever you decide to do will be the right decision.
And I am glad you are feeling optimistic xxSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Thanks :A When a butterfly flaps it's wings and all that.....
Made £40 on Ebay last night, so that's good and will post the parcels tomorrow. I'm going to update my Amazon books to make sure I have the lowest selling prices, then list a few more.
Tomorrow, I'm going to start sorting things out towards the £10k challenge. Now I've been paid (though it is all spoken for) I can spare a bit to "invest". Nothing ventured......
Right, off to scratch0 -
So much for change....(rolls eyes - damn Politically Correct MSE team!)
I've just drowned my sorrows with 2 glasses of wine, half a large bar of dark choc and 4 (count 'em) LARGE cookies!:o:o
Really must go for a run in the morning.
Off to adjust my diet diary..........0 -

Oops I had wine on your behalf Macgirl!
Know where you're coming from on work. Had a very rough week myself and a few not very nice meetings! Can't leave as it fits in with family life and need to make the best of it/ Stay positive, things will work out, hard to work through things when mind is bogged down and it's also far to easy to dwell on things.
Hope you feel better in the morning.1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j

Morning, today is a new day
Though was awake half the night after yesterday's events....
Another amazon order, from which £7 will be profit, so will post that plus 3 Ebay bits today. £53.08 has been requested from amazon, so that should boost the monthly total nicely and £10.33 landed in my account from Ebay yesterday.
Lots planned for today:- Buy a new house phone with Nectar points
- Post Ebay/Amazon Parcels
- Ring Mortgage Company to double check deal has been changed
- Sort through mountainous pile of paperwork currently spreading like wildfire on the dining room table
- Snoop around junk shops for Ebayables
Along with general housework blah, blah, blah!
Hope all's well with you, have a good day0 -

Just got back from the school run/Post Office/shopping etc
Bought the phone from Argos with Nectar points and still had £52 left :j
So, as I'm in a "Get things done" mood, I decided to replace the wooden blind we have in the bathroom. It has been broken for months and is a bit of an eyesore. I bought the new one from Homebase for £44.99 (or FREE with Nectar points - I like this kind of shopping!).
Then on to Sainsburys to buy bread, milk and fruit. Of course, then I remembered we needed loo rolls and coffee, so spent more than I intended (no self control )
When I got to the till, the lady said I still has £52 worth of Nectar points! I was honest and said I don't think so, as I've just spent them. She said not - so I got the shopping for free too! :j:j:j:j:j Perhaps my luck is changing....
Right, off to crack on with the other jobs!0 -

Wow cracking deals there Macgirl. I haven't used my Nectar card for ages and this prompted me to check on line how many points i had....*cackles* gleefully at thought. Thanks for the timely reminder:T
I think this is the end of a very long month and i for one am glad to have survived it.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0
