    Good Morning!

I'm starting New Year early. Being off work for a few days has given me space and time to think and I'm full of ideas, energy and vigour!

I've decided that I need some blue sky / limitless thinking  I don't know how to describe it, but I know what I mean. My inspiration comes from the nice man from the Pay your Mortgage off in 2 years TV programme.

He didn't take "I've only got £1000 spare a month, how will I pay off £18000 in 10 months?" as an answer. And neither can I.

Being Debt Free by 40 might be a stretch, but still being in debt this time next year is not an option.

I'm starting to have a shift in mindset, which includes an extra job. Not away from the home, but making things to sell. I don't know what yet, but I used to do craft fairs, can paint and sew - I made my wedding dress, so will think of something.
I'll also try Ebay as an outlet for selling some of my wares....

Right off to do scratches and bingo, then I'll be back!

When are you 40? Mine's in November and I have all sorts of things I want to get in order for then......I want to be debt free, in control of finances completely, less stressed, fitter and generally healthier, living in less clutter, and to generally be content and happy.

Not much to ask really, is it :rotfl:

Well the scratchies gave me 20p and 50p today :j But after wagering £2.40 of my daily BB bonus - I won....zilch. Will try again later when the winnings are more lucrative.

I went online to our joint bank account and cancelled the kids savings. We save £20 a month for each of them, but that will have to stop for the time being.

Today I will collect money owing to me from my sibs for Mum's party.
I'm currently overdrawn again (after transferring it to Virgin  ), so this will bring my back to credit for now.

Payday is not until 25th Jan, which seems light years away....

    Onwards and downwards!
  • Good luck with the short sharp shock. If you used to do 'crafty' stuff its so much easier to get back into. My friends and family are amazed by what to me is really simple and easy.

January is always a terrible month for having to wait for payday.......but I quite like it and challenge myself to use up storecupboard items and make wonderful (if not a little wierd) meal combinations to make the budgets stretch a bit further.

Yep that is definitely order of the day in our house.

The household budget is not the problem though, as that comes out of our joint account. I could try and syphen off a bit of spare cash into my account for the debt, but our mortgage payment goes up by £200 per month from next week, in line with the MFiT challenge.
I am determined that I won't be eating into the overdraft AT ALL, so NSDs, lunches, storecupboard, begging etc will see me through to the 25th!

    Thanks Gilli
Your diary is very inspiring in the craft department. I am full of ideas and enthusiasm now, but that will wane when I'm back to working 45+ hours a week and trying to do washing, budgetting and housework (and spending time with DD's :o) inbetween
But while I am off, I'm trying to plan, so I can just crack on when I have a minute. I have to make time, it's a simple as that!

I think painting might be my best bet. I used to make cushions in weird and wonderful fabrics. Tracking down the fabrics is not so easy these days, plus I'm mindful of spending too much up front, but I'll have to see. I'm just going to try a few things, plan a craft /arts fair and work towards that, then see how it goes.
