TBH, I feel quite calm about it all. This house is sorted really, there's just the attic to do. I have to be mindful of not "overthinking" because I can start making mental lists - then I become mental! :o

I need to order this, I need to buy that, I need to hem those, I need to ring them, I must remember to etc etc etc. But the new house IS great and I can't wait to move in :)
  • Hope you have a less stressful day.

It will all get done, just take it in your stride. Panic justs means that you get less done, but with more energy. this time next week you'll be wondering what you worried about.

Evening all, not a very productive day today, though I did manage to sort the moving of our phone and Broadband :D

Workwise thought the tap has been turned off and I'm not in after tomorrow so I do need to seriously knuckle down and get an early start.

Moneywise bought lunch (a belated birthday card with some money in arrived from my Auntie to save this month's bacon) = £2.30.

Just off to pick up the girls, then popping to see friends we haven't seen in ages, then home to pack. DH has worked at home today so is already hard at it - good boy!

Blimey only just read Mr Big's challenge from last night - 250 people! Come to think of it someone sent me an invite to linkedin today - wonder if they are doing the challenge too?
I'll give them a wink next time I catch them at work ;)

Good news I forgot is that the "LET and MANAGED" sign is outside the house! :j Happy days :)

1 night to sleep and we're out of here. It's a time for reflection for me. Alot has happened to us whilst we've lived here, got married, had 2 children as well as totally renovated the place. Our youngest was born in this very room - so in some ways it will be sad to leave...

But it's time for a new beginning and I'm ready to embrace that. About 90% of the house is boxed and gone to the new house, so tomorrow the guys just have to move the large pieces of furniture and appliances (though WE have to carry the washer up from the cellar - as they *aren't insured* for cellars !!!!!!?!?!?).

    Anyway....

MG's challenge made me cry last night. It's something I battle with everyday, to achieve balance - making sure I savour every moment of the girls while they're young, spending quality time with DH (who is quite depressed at the moment, but that's another story), doing my best at work, being a good friend, keeping a calm and tidy house, running to stay healthy...

I know it's the lot of women full stop and we all have it to do. I don't mind, but it's hard to then find time for *you* and I do make sure I'm a bit selfish from time to time, though not often enough. When I was quite young, my Dad came in one day and sat on the sofe next to me and said sadly "Life is Hard". My sister and I were wide-eyed and innocent then and looked at him like he was mad. I often think about that day, and sadly now I know what he means.....
Don't know what I'm blithering on about now, so will go and check the bank accounts and sort myself out for work :o

2 more days to payday - roll on. Have a good day if you're still reading :D

    only one more sleep!

are the girls excited or don't they really understand how big this is for you.

    Have a good day

Yes, they are buzzing! They got to the new house and started unpacking and acting all organised and grown up. But DD1 has been a bit sad saying she doesn't like to say goodbye to old things...:( I told her that someone nice is moving in to look after our house for us, so we can have more space.

    They'll be fine I think :)

They will be fine and once they are in their new rooms they will be very fine indeed!

It is bound to be emotional. You wouldn't expect it to be any different. I was thinking just the other day about the things I would be "leaving behind" when I move, and it is not just about leaving the bad stuff, there have been good moments too, and it does all end up jumbling around in my brain (perhaps time for another mind map!).

But, you are moving for very positive reasons, You are moving to a place that you will love, that you will call home.

And the worst that will happen, is that for some reason you end up back in the "old" house. So you have a win-win situation!

    Thank you :)

A very productive day today. Advised Scottishpower we're moving and was told we're £285 in credit - so a nice rebate there to add to this winter's fuel bill pot :money:
(Bit disappointed we overpaid in the first place but at least we have some in reserve as energy bills will be higher in the new house).

Went through this site to arrange dual fuel with Sainsburys including £50 cashback and £15 for switching :money::money:

Sent off change of address details to DVLA, still lots more people to advise, but I'm on with that. Dinner was made with dregs of the freezer - which is now empty - as are most of the kitchen cupboards. 2 more boxes to pack and the kitchen will be empty :j

Next job is to empty the cupboard in the girl's room and pack the last of their books = another 2 boxes max.

Then bathroom, our bedroom to pack the last few bits of clothes (and a pile of interiors magazines that I snuck past DH but can't bear to part with :o:D).
If I can do all that before MAD MEN at 10pm, I'll be very happy indeed.

Then I can get up at 6am and do the dining room - just a few shelves so perhaps another 2 boxes. Then we'll drop DH's car into the garage and drop the kids at breakfast club.
The top of the cellar stairs has shelves holding paint and painting tools, so I'll need them for the weekend.

    After that we're DONE!!!

It feels like we're pretty under control and strangely calm. I guess all weeks of organisation have paid off - hurrah!
