   Nearly murdered my own child this evening.
Little DD is the most stubborn single-minded person I have ever met. She's like a bull (which fits as she is a Taurean), she drives me to the absolute edge. I know she's only 4, but she would swear black was white one minute, then white was black, then bawl her eyes out that she neither of those things - there is no reasoning with her AT ALL.
I mustn't complain as she woke every night for hours every night for years, so things aren't that bad, but still, I felt a few more hairs turning white tonight.....
My Dad thinks she's going to be Prime Minister one day  but she will be going to boarding school in Outer Mongolia if she doesn't watch herself!
Just having a wine to calm down - chamomile tea isn't working tonight0 -
**passes top quality chocs too**
oh the joys of parenting!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Pity I didn't see those chocs last night Hypno, but Mad Men and wine sufficed thanks
She has got love in bucket loads but is a very tough individual, which though will serve her well in adulthood, is difficult to parent - as you say - the joys!
Last day of the working week and hopefully a decision regarding my pay......
We have 2 viewings tomorrow - the EA said they couldn't fit anyone into their diary before Friday so we had to do them. Then another on Saturday.
The EA then rang yesterday afternoon to say they had booked someone in their diary to show them round today - despite it previously being full.
And then a sing-songy "Is that alright?" Well it'll have to be now you've booked it....
DH feels a) uneasy about this - as we still live here and b) that the EA are being a bit cheeky and "gazumping" the other people, which isn't the case as it's not on a first come first served basis. But the first lady wanted to view straight away and I was at work, so asked them to to it.
So anyway - I have to ring the EA and put them off today, so I'm sat here trying to decide on my excuse
Will aim for another NSD day - bar breakfast at work, as we have a colleague who needs some therapy, so duty calls!
Have a good day all x0 -
Reading Hypno's thread reminded me of Christmas and that I bought another present yesterday.
Inspired by DT's hampers. I bought a kid's cooking set in Asda for £3 and a little hand whisk with a turning handle for £1.97.
I'm going to find some cheap baskets (did spot 5 for £4.99 in Ikea catalogue), some nice Cath Kidston-eque fabric and pink the edges, then maybe make a pinny and some oven gloves
(in my new sewing room :j) - et voila! An expensive looking cooking set from Santa that little DD will love :money:
I've already got them some UGGs - V cheaply in the Summer sales and an Ariel Little Mermaid costume for a fiver :money: - they are about £20 in the Disney store :T
Right off to work.....0 -
Pleased to hear you've got a completion date. When do you exchange?
Hope your 4 year old DD is good today to balance things out a bit.0 -
Hi Se :hello:
No idea when we'll exchange, but I spoke to the solicitor on Tuesday and he says we should complete next Friday. Apparently we sign by post, then that's it so finger's crossed.
Little DD's last day at nursery today, she's her usual self  but I'm rising above it
Well, news of the day is that I am going to receive a payrise :j My boss did propose for me to have a bonus (which I would have preferred) but it is to be a salary increase instead so I can't complain and will add an extra few £££ to the coffers when we need it most.
Busy this evening as we have 4 viewings this weekend and it's in the paper tonight (at the wrong price ) so may have more. Hopefully we'll find a suitable tenant and that will be another load off.0 -
Fab news on the payrise Macgirl, am pleased for you. What a great help just as you move. And thanks for the tip re Mad Men - saw it for the first time on hols - and LOVED it - so am planning to watch my way through it from the start, assuming Virgin has it on demand....that's my treat for tomorrow evening.....

Thank you Mrs R and Gill :A
Mad Men is a Beeb programme Mrs R, so you'll get it on iplayer. If finances allow I would buy the box sets of series 1 & 2 (then maybe resell them :money:) and buy series 3 and watch those first.
It's an odd programme as nothing really happens, but it's still compelling viewing and the only real thing I am addicted to.....
If anyone needs any further convincing - just check this out - George Clooney eat you heart out :heartpuls0 -
That's exactly what I thought - NOTHING happened! At all. And yet I couldn't switch it off. Am just going off to check it is listed on my TV on demand thingy. Really quite excited.
