Swans look effortless on the surface, but below they paddle like mad, I think we've seen more of the paddling :D

Pleased to hear things are going OK. Wish it was me with somewhere to buy :o but a week in October to house hunt :)

Best wishes for the packing etc..

P.S. Due to previous experiences, we now don't think we're moving until exchange, but we have had lots of experiences!!! For us a good gap between exchange and completion is normally something we like when in a chain.

Yep, you are probably spot on about the swan analogy Se!

As for exchange and completion - they might end up being on the same day. It's only been 4 weeks since the offer was accepted and we are chain free, so from that respect it has perhaps not been as stressful as it could have been :)

Huge basket of ironing done - hurrah. I've got my running gear ready for tomorrow morning's 6 miler. I'm just going to unwind then go to bed.

    **RANT ALERT**

I'm a bit hacked off today. The Natwest have really been dragging their heels and I have always sprung to their defense with the EA, but today they are really P***ing me off.
We went to have DH's ID verified at the branch as instructed and had to tell the staff member how we'd been asked to have it verified by the mortgage arm (if that makes sense).
She was quite uppity saying "I KNOW how to certify documents".
    OK.

So that was about 3 weeks ago. When we were on Rome, I got a phone call from them saying that the branch had not verified the documents correctly!
We meant to do it on Saturday morning, but after all the family shenanigans, we clean forgot. So today, DH spent almost 2 hours in the city branch getting his ID re-verified. This branch would not let him take the copies to fax off himself and said they would have to send it internally (which does make sense, but the other branch gave them to us)

So...(sorry I need to get this off my chest :D) we have to hope they were conscientious and did fax it asap, as promised. I rang them at 4.45pm to see if they had received it but it was "not on the system". Fair enough, I know we're not the only customers, but she then said it would take 2 DAYS to analyse his ID!

Now, I would be fine with that, had it not taken them 3 weeks to decide all was not ok and to wait until after all the finance was approved before asking us for this again. This small c*ck-up will potentially delay everything. I'm so frustrated, as I have chased them every day. They haven't written or rang - I've done all the chasing at every stage. I am booking the van regardless, but if we complete next Friday, it will be down to the wire.....

    Anyway - rant over :o

Actually, I guess DH should have done it on Monday, but it was his first day back to work and he was up to his eyes in it.......and breathe

Well I've channelled my frustration into something useful this evening.

    I have:
    Joined LandlordZone
Applied for another Flexaccount for the rental income
    Filed lots of paperwork
Filled in forms for little DD's school and Out of School Club
Applied for consent to sublet from our Landlord as our house is Leasehold
Drafted a letter to advise change of address and made a pile of utilities which can be changed online

The last bit is slightly frustrating, as I so want to be organised to avoid stress. But I don't want to jump the gun and tell everyone we'll moving next weekend - incase we don't.

    Onwards

I haven't even stratched the surface. It feels like organising a wedding. Booking the church and the venue is the easy bit, then as the big day draws closer there is a snowball of ever-increasing jobs to do.

Must keep plodding on - we'll get there!
DH meanwhile has gone to bed

I know! I don't like to be typical "All Men are XYZ" because everyone is an individual.

However, the sad fact remains that IMHO the female of the species can multitask and will get the majority of the tasks done :D:D:D
