Thank Mrs R! Dream house is gorge though and has huge cellars, so there could be the potential to install another loo.
DH has just returned from his open water swimming and I told him the news about the house. He smirked and said nothing. Meanwhile, I have all houses I've saved on RM, comparing room sizes, amount of work to do vs. no work, large garden (lovely, but no time to garden) vs. small yet manageable. All this whilst watching Location, Location on 4+1.
Arghhhhh I'm in a house frenzy - somebody slap me PLEASE!!!!0 -

Thanks Taxi, it was after a short illness, but still unexpected...
Well, I have been very frugal this weekend - apart from £43 ballet fees and £37.50 swimming fees. Actually I'm forgetting that I went to see SATC 2 last nightI'm a huge fan, so was really looking forward to it, but was sorely disappointed. It started hilariously well, but from then on in, was pretty poor.
Today the weather is typically Bank holidayish and has been pouring down all day. After ballet and swimming lessons, we viewed a house. Not for me, though DH said he could see it would be a good buy. It's on a lovely quiet road, in a very desirable area and well within school catchment. It just didn't have the right feel for me - I'm am definitely emotionally led when it comes to houses.
Little DD and I viewed another yesterday morning and that needed even more work, even though it is on one of the prettiest and most sought after roads in the area. Again, not for us as.
So, we are both still hankering after the "Dream House" (even though, it's not really our ultimate dream, just that we didn't expect to be able to buy something in that style just yet). Now it has been significantly reduced again - it seems within reach even if we keep and let ours.
I spoke to the bank yesterday and they agreed to a loan in principle, as we have plenty of equity here. So, I've called the agent to arrange another viewing. We really need to assess space and our needs for the next 5-10 years. I'm trying hard not to fall in love with it because there is only a slim chance we will get it.
The best thing is we have nothing to sell and they are relocating with a young family, so are pressed for time......Feel sick already _pale_0 -
OOh exciting times Macgirl I know what you mean about the house feeling right if it doesn't its a non starter thankfully OH and I always agree on houses except once when rather strangely he get ensnared by a 17th century manor house with a 13th century ruin in the garden it was a lovely house but needed loads spending on it but he definitely let his heart rule his head on that one but when I pointed out that it was a shared access with a farmer which was in a poor condition and he had an aston martin:eek: at the time he finally saw sense :rotfl:and we sold the aston to put central heating in the house we finally bought
not sure he has really forgiven me for that especially with how the price of them has gone up but you can't win them all and we needed central heating.
We are thinking about remodelling our house so trying to get builders quotes at the moment that's not quite as much fun especially as we will have to move out as it will involve all of the ground floor - but hopefully it will be good when it is done we like the house it just doesn't work for us at the moment:(
Have fun looking I love moving we used to move every 2/3 yrs sometimes less but have been here 13 years so I miss it

Good luck with the viewing on the "dream house".....fingers crossed it all goes as you want it!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Thanks you 2 :A Hope you're both well.
I'll be in debt forever more but I don't care. Today we saw the third set of neighbours this year, moving in next door - effing and blinding as they went. Nice.
Definitely time to move. Once this house is rented and fingers crossed it stays that way, our mortgage will be about the same, as we've been overpaying for the last 6 months.
Plus little DD starts school in September, so cash is freed up there.
I know council tax will be higher, but that has been accounted for. It is a risk, but life is full of them, so debt or no debt - the time is now. I am optimistic that my pay review in August will bring some financial windfall - either rise or bonus, so that would be allocated to the debts. The good thing is they are not rising.
Next week this house will be valued by the letting agent, so we will get their assessment with regards to new windows. DH wants to let it as is, then get windows when we've seen a few months rent build up. We'll see.....0 -
Sounds like you know what you want and am sure you'll find it pretty soon0
