Just on the phone to the Natwest. To switch to IO would mean it would have to be for the rest of the term - which is 5 years.

To borrow £3k to do the windows would be £50 per month for the rest of the term = 7 years +£299 fee plus 4.89% interest for the first 5 years. (Or whatever a BTL rate would be if all goes to plan)

It would be cheaper to take out an 0% interest cc, but it's doubtful it would be paid off within the year, thereby adding to cc debts. If we added it to the m'gage and by some miracle we did get some sort of lump sum we could throw it at that.
In my twisted world, adding it to the mortgage when it's for home improvements seem like "good debt" and I don't believe it would hurt our credit score as much as another cc - is that right?

I know that sounds a bit dumb. My head hurts.

I don't think your world is twisted but my head hurts reading it all as well :rotfl:

Can you reduce the overpayment you are making to the mortgage in order to pay it towards a 0% card for the windows instead as it would take you 15 months to pay off and a lot of cards offer 15 months BT now - just a thought? Ignore me if I'm confused, most people do......
    1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j
    2nd debt - MBNA - £6,618.52
First in many many to go - baby steps and all that!
First lump sum to go - fingers crossed!
    08/06/09 - [STRIKE]£11,497.68[/STRIKE] NOW - £9,757.75

No, that does sound good, but we've just fixed and decreased the term thereby increasing monthly payments......what to do.

Thanks for thinking about it. I'm sure the answer will present itself in due course!

Just waiting for friends to arrive for lunch. House is sparkling (as if we always live like this) Ironing is 3/4 done, but I stopped at the duvet covers - I hate doing those, so that treat is in store for this evening.

Hope you are having a good day :)

Having ploughed my way through the ironing, I can sympathise, I rarely iron duvet covers, but do 'sometimes' put them on the ironing board under other stuff so they get a bit of a go. I always leave them inside out too, to make it easier to put them on :D
