I can't. I've just eaten half an easter egg shell (265 calories) and now I feel really guilty :o

Oooh BTD - I wondered if you'd be watching :o Still need to input all the badness into NC. Will do it in a bit.

I feel absolutely shattered now. DH made me poached salmon and steamed veg for tea (I don't eat meat, so as un-MSE as it is, we often have separate meals) and now I just want to sleep. Though maybe that's just the impending doom of the ironing pile.......

Oh yes, sod the ironing now. I've just paired some socks, that'll have to do. I'm knackered now. I only have the energy to watch Super Size/Super Skinny - love that show.
Almost as much as Embarrassing Bodies :D

I've been thinking all day about the house and the work we need to do; windows, rebuild the porch, replaster our bedroom.

The plastering can be sorted. I'm selling my old car, so that will pay for that. But after my chat with OH at the weekend, things have shifted into sharp focus. For all my blind optimism that the money will come from somewhere, I've had to face up to the fact that we don't get lump sums, so can't rely on that.

To save for the work will take years, so I have wondered about borrowing more on the mortgage. That makes me feel quite depressed and like I've learnt nothing. But other than putting it on a CC, I can't see another way......

We are paying £200 more a month on the mortgage, which may have been a bad decision in hindsight.
Would we have been better saving this cash and paying off debts (which are all at the same or cheaper rates of interest)??? Wish I was clever and good at maths. As a (Doctor) friend says - should have worked harder at school *sigh*

:D I LOVE Supersize/Superskinny - although some of the skinnies are PAINFULLY thin. Me and the rugrats watch it every week (well, not junior rugrat as he is tucked up in bed by that time). I do have to cover middle rugrat's eyes on occasion - and I feel honour bound as a mother to deliver a mini-lecture to eldest rugrat about the dangers of being too thin. SHe always says 'mum, don't worry I love food too much...can I have a chewy bar?!' - which makes me feel a bit better:D

Anna Richardson is annoying me this series though

Good Morning. I've been awake since 5am as next door's baby was wailing. I'm going to have to have a polite word today.
It happens every day and they just leave it crying for up to an hour! I have every sympathy with crying children, but at least TRY to stop it crying - I'm shattered.

Right off to scratch - fingers crossed for some sort of magic. I was dreaming that we had a whole wing of the house we'd forgotten about that just needed renovating - I WISH!! :D

Is your mortgage interest only? If not, it would be worth switching to IO from now on, if you then use the difference to do work on the house?

At the end of the day, if borrowing more to do the house is what you need to do, then only you know how that will impact on your own lives etc.

I am probably too negative about borrowing more to do work on the house, given that it was property renovation that caused me my debt in the first place......I'm probably not as objective as I should be :o

Morning Hypno, I hadn't thought of that, so thanks.

I've just checked and it would knock approx £500 per month off our payments, so we might only have to do it for 6 months - if we do it at all. I'll give them a ring today to discuss options then we can decide after that. I'll give it plenty of thought before doing anything hasty. The thought of extra borrowing from anywhere makes me feel a bit depressed nowadays, which is progress I suppose.

    Thanks again :)

£500 a month is a significant difference! As I say, feel free to push aside my objections to borrowing more........my windows are about to fall out and I still insist on waiting until there is enough in the "windows pot" to do them, when I could easily (and quite possibly, sensibly) use a 0% credit card cheque and be done with it!

    :o

Result will be - you will be living in lovely house, with lovely tenants in your current home. And I will be sitting with insulating tape holding my glass together :rotfl:
