Hubby used to tell me he needed ironed shirts for work but that mysteriously changed when I suggested he iron his own. I did see his point though...I'd undoubtably like my clothes ironed if it was someone else doing it.
I don't buy clothes for the kids and me that need ironed. I don't currently have a working tumble dryer so I take the clothes out the washing machine, hang them up and that's that. I expect the shirts might look a bit better ironed but I don't wear shirts so not my problem. I don't even put clothes away now, they're all old enough to do that themselves. (10, 15 & 53.) I'm only in charge of laundry from the time it goes into the washing basket till the time it gets put on their beds, clean and folded.
I do own a good iron though. You can't sew anything properly without pressing seams in.Val.0 -
I like my clothes to look ironed, I do shirts, tshirts, trousers and jeans. Don't iron towels or tea towels but do iron pillow cases.Slightly bitter0

I find that if I fold things carefully after line drying/tumble drying, then they don't need ironing. The only thing that I will iron, and this is once a week, is my sunday wear - I'm a minister and so have to make sure that I look half decent when turning up and doing the service lol!0

As little as possible. Think it's at least 7 months since it saw daylight (apart from falling out of the cupboard and onto my foot) gets more use for Hama beads than clothes
It's quite amazing how many are shocked that I don't. I buy clothes that look easier to iron. DS1 wears easy iron school shirts that are dried on hangers (yes even if on the line) or in the TD if I'm struggling for space then hung immediately. I've got a couple of shirts that need ironing so I tend to erm, not wear them. In summer I do more ironing when on camp sites as it helps take the damp out of stuff, isn't my electric and I can hide with my MP3 player for a whileOne day I might be more organised...........

I've just taken down yesterday' laundry load from the clothes airer and it'll pan out like this;
Ironed: 1 cotton blouse for work and 2 small cotton hankies.
Non-ironed; undies, socks, 2 pairs pyjamas, a hand towel.
Total time ironing; less than 5 mins.Oh, and I shall quickly draw a salvaged-from-a-cake and laundered satin ribbon under the iron before it will enter the sewing stash known informally as The Makings.:o
Best get on with it.
PS if I didn't ever iron clothes I'd still want an iron as you can't do a decent sewing job without one.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

since my last answer in this thread, I think I have ironed about 4 garments, and that was only to shut my boss up
She did try to get me to do ironing for a client though:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

OK, I'll own up, I rather like ironing. I enjoy it because it's dry and clean and warm, you can do it while listening properly to Radio 4, and you have something to show for it at the end, a nice pile of neatly hung and folded clothes. I don't iron underclothes or towels, but pretty much everything else - including wiping-up cloths because it makes them lie flat in the cupboard.
In general I don't really mind household chores; the only one I really detest is the one many people have as a hobby - gardening. I'd rather spend a whole day at the ironing board than an hour in the garden. I suppose it's because it's generally either uncomfortably hot or uncomfortably cold, and also because it's public and I prefer hiding away!Life is mainly froth and bubble
