I iron hubbys shirts and trousers, jeans/trousers, t-shirts that look creased and cotton pillow cases , I do love an ironed pillow case.. probably spend 15/20mins per week.. one of my daughters irons nothing and I really can't say I've noticed her looking particularly creased up... I think most creases actually drop out when you wear something , but its just a habit and I like hubbys shirts to look smart for work..

We hardly iron anything ! Buy easy care school and work shirts, which I put on hangers straight out of the machine, they look absolutely fine. Iron dh's posh shirts if we're going anywhere really smart or he has an important meeting, similarly might iron a smart top for me, altho most of my 'going out' clothes will be dry clean or floaty drip dry kind of thing.

Some folk iron everything, underwear, towels, even dishcloths! Strikes me as masochism .
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

My housemate irons her pants and towels which I don't get, but everything else, why not? Ironed clothes look very smart. Can always tell if one of the guys is going out with a girl because 1) you get gassed by lynx 2) he irons his shirt!

I iron shirts, for dh, and I'm afraid I do iron our bedding...it makes me happy though I know it makes others happier not too...each to their own.

I do not iron, pants, jeans, t shirts, but things like linen trousers, cotton shirts, dresses...anything formal/smart casual and of creasy sort of fabric gets ironed. Curtains after they have been washed, table clothes when used, and napkins...napkins take just a second.

Ironing keeps me warm in winter and with nice water smells good, I convince my self its a sort of energetic spa treatment. I iron way more in winter than summer...not least because of the types of clothes we wear then I guess. :)

I iron everything - all school uniforms (for 3) and PE/ sports/ games/ dance kits and lots of shirts for DH. All clothes are ironed for all 6 of us, except pants and socks - I iron vests for the youngest 2, PJs - all of it. I also iron all bedding and tea towels. When we used them I ironed baby muslins, babygros etc.

What I don't iron is towels, pants/ socks and dishcloths - oh and trackie bottoms

I don't mind ironing - I do it when I watch tv from about 9pm. You can tell if there's been something decent on tv because the ironing pile reduces! :D:D

  • I iron DH's work shirts, and a few things of mine. Oh and a bedding set which is 100% cotton and needs it. I probably only iron about a fifth of the laundry I do.

I iron almost everything. What I don't iron, I steam. Everything apart from socks that is! I enjoy it and it kills any bugs on dishtowels (I iron them but steam and fold the dishcloths - everything looks so much tidier in the drawer). If someone enjoys ironing, why do some people have a problem with it? It's not doing anyone any ill, and everything looks neat when folded or hung up - can't be done with a curled up collar.

I hate ironing so do as little as possible. When the kids were at school and OH was working their uniforms and his work clothes were ironed but now I only really iron if we're going somewhere special and wearing smart clothes. I always fold clothes as soon as the come out of the washer and as soon as they're dried and I find very few things actually need ironing.

If I have an iron in my hand, then either I'm going to a funeral or a wedding(unless on of the neighbours is on the drink again and it's for self defence!). When we first got married, MrQ tried to persuade me that I "needed" to iron all of his clothes as well as bedding and towels, so I startched his underpants and he never mentioned it again.
