I am a freak!! I love ironing! Especially on Sundays when I watch weeks worth of Come Dine With Me! I don't iron underwear, towels or bedding though.

I used to do that but now I've seen pretty much all of them and the ironing took longer than Come Dine With Me!!!

I iron every 2 - 3 days. Usually in the afternoon whilst Kyle is on and ds2 is in bed (its the only time I get to watch something in the afternoon other than cbeebies). I wont iron if ds2 is awake! I am really funny about kids and irons. Ds1 and dd know to stay away from ironing board!!! I iron tops and trousers/skirts. I do not iron underwear, towels, bedding etc either.

dh keeps thinking i will iron his boxers as his mum did. that will never happen!!!! she was mad to do this and I do think she should have shown him how to iron cos on the odd occasion he does iron, i have to redo it!!!!!!!! She always cleaned up after him as well which is a whole new issue!!!!!

Bet that's deliberate!!! If he does it badly, you won't ask him to do it again! :rotfl:

As there is a recent thread on ironing and how to avoid it ;) I've merged the threads to keep the replies together.

Probably most of the time, but on the odd occassion it doesnt get redone (when he has told me about a meeting or something at work at 10pm the night before and I have not been organised that week or he has not put washing in basket in time, so he irons stuff in morning) he does come home saying his colleagues have taken the p1ss out of him!!! he has done that on more than one occassion. I have enough to do on a morning getting myself and 3 kids out the door so I will not iron for him! But it does look a mess!! :P (insert evil laugh here!!!)

When my kids were young and I didn't work outside the home, ironing was one of the things I did for money. I would do it when they were asleep and was nothing for me to be ironing for 4 hours, often in the early hours of the morning.

I now iron when I have to, its not the ironing that gets me down, its the putting it away afterwards lol. I tend to do it first thing in the morning, before I get ready for work;.......although saying this I have now got a very high pile in the basket cos I have been doing other things in the morning.....like getting tea ready, baking biccies for work etc....will have to have a marathon session on Saturday i guess...sigh

My OH jokes that I moved him to be his ironing fairy, he should have also advertised for a putting away fairy lol

(My DD does not have an iron , well she does, but can't remeber where she put it) She says life is too short to iron and I have to say they all look fine when they go out have never seen my DGDs in crumpled clothes.......but lets just wait for the frilly party dresses when they are bit older :D

How much ironing do I do?

As little as possible. I would take toilet scrubbing over ironing any day!

Couldn't tell you the last time I got the iron out. OH irons one shirt a day for himself for work. I have this inbuilt gene of buying clothes that, after washing and being hung up, don't need ironing. It must run in the family, younger sis was asked where her iron was the other day..she fumbled around for ages in a cupboard and pulled out a smoothie maker. :rotfl: And as for towels, bedding, underwear?? Life is way too short....in our household anyway. :D

My iron is used by my son to iron his Karate clothes and very occasionally by OH to do his own. It is the 2nd iron I have owned and we bought it when the kids were in primary infants(my youngest is 21 now).
