We're actually a bit confused about how tax would affect my partner as she doesn't work, but she also doesn't claim any benefits so we're gong to look into it and find out if we need to declare it and if so how we do that. I was always under the impression before that if you earned under a certain amount then you didn't have to declare it, but since reading some of the comments posted on here i'm not so sure, so I'll contact them just to be on the safe side.0

Its ok Gem+Dave+Kaci you don't need to explain yourselfs to anyone on here really, thank you for the reply though.
Come on give it a rest now , its hardly crime of the year ....i don't think you need to declare anything the amount of what you would be selling these for is am sure is under what you have to declare.
She does not work or claim benefits and suffers with depression so i say good luck to you , can hardly look down on someone trying to coup there loses either due the fact they may not need them all now.
I would of been annoyed say if its some guy who earns a good amount each year and does ebay as a side line and snaps all the deals up only to sell them on to make a big profit , but this is not the case here.0 -
tickets for what ??savvy wrote:I know how you feel, but not everyone is the same, my bf could end up being viewed as having done that, when in reality he hasn't!
He wanted to buy 4 tickets and due to glitch on the website ended up being charged 2x, giving him 8 tickets. We can use a 5th okay, but are going to be stuck with 3, now that's £105 he needs and has been taken off his CC for some time, so he's had to pay interest on that. He may have to try and sell on Ebay yet if we can't find others that are interested
And before anyone says why didn't you send them back to the company, the tickets haven't been due to be posted out yet...................despite the fact some people have been offering them on Ebay already!:rolleyes::rolleyes:0 -

Regardless of the amounts involved you would still have to register with the inland revenue. You would not pay tax until you had made £4000 odd but you still have to register.0 -
As a long time lurker who only recently decided to register,I have to say that I'm fairly astounded at the naivety of many posters on mse.
I feel sure that this forum has become one of the main sources of information for professional ebayers - the vast majority of whom probably never post at all and aren't even registered members (and I'm not an ebay seller,by the way).0 -

The *REAL* irony is when the Ebayers spot really good bargains themselves that they can sell on to make money, they probably aren't all too eager to come here to let everyone else know about that bargain because it would damage their profits. Letting everyone here know about bargains reciprocally is what this site is intended to be for. It's not intended to be a guide on how ebayers can make money (even though unfortunately it may be used as such). Ebayers are more likely to be leaches on this site, and not contributors.
Who do you prefer?
1) The Ebayer. Someone who snaps up all they can just to sell on to make some money for themselves, depriving people who genuinely want the items of a good deal. They buy based only on how much money they have, and how much money they can make. They sometimes spot good deals, but tend to keep them to themselves so they can fill their boots and make money.
Or
2) The bargain buyer. Someone who buys within their means as they require getting the bargain they want. They are only interested in the item itself, and the money saved, not in possible profit. If they spot a bargain they'll let you know about it to.
I prefer the bargain buyer myself.0 -

It's catch 22 and I guess mse has become a victim of its own success.0 -
