Have you asked in the store, or just not been able to find them. I went to the Hertford store today and they didn't have any out on display like the other stores I went to but when I asked they had quite a few out the back which I brought.

Makes me sick that people go out of the way to get these probably after seeing it on here and then dont even need them and put them on ebay to make a quick buck

Some people really need these like students (me) who need to save money ..just makes me (grrr)

Personally I totally agree, and not just with this thread re the driving lessons. Some posters openly 'brag' about their intention of getting freebies or greatly reduced items, with the sole intention of selling on e-bay. Again to the extent of clearing shelves of bargins and freebies, rather than getting a few for their own use and to give to family and friends, and then letting "the rest of us" get the left overs

BUT, I don't know THEIR financial circumstances. Maybe they have debts, or are so financially strapped for cash that they feel they HAVE TO MAKE as much money as possible, and not just SAVE MONEY
I cleared my local Halfords, but I have 2 kids who need them - youngest has just got his provisional come thru, so the 16 hours I bought will definitely be used by my family, and unless a miracle happens, will still not be enough.

Re Staff buying for themselves - well to be honest, Why shouldn't they ?!! They probably don't get many perks. ~In the store I cleared, the sa said "I saw those and thought about getting them for my brother!" Well his indecision was my gain. Staff and their families/friends may need to have lessons, so why shouldn't they buy them when they see these great offers !! A lot of the posts I see on MSE are from 'STAFF' giving advanced notice of great deals and offers, so it cuts both ways. Only real issue would be AGAIN if they were buying cheap, just to SELL on and make a profit. But hey, LIFES UNFAIR.

My advice to you would be,
    1) phone/visit all the stores you could possibly get to, and those near family and friends who could collect them for you.
    2) As some of the posters above have commented, another hope is that these stores may have some old stock in their store rooms that may see the light of day in a few days/weeks - so re-visit ( by phone/in person) the ones you have already checked. Even leave a contact number in case they receive any more, or find some 'out back'. Promise that you will buy whatever they can find !
    3) Have you tried getting in touch with Halford HQ and asking if they have any in a central warehouse ( getting desperate here - but if YOU are desperate, for the sake of an e-mail, give it a go). Give them the sob-story of being a poor student - you never know they may turn up trumps
    4) Again in a previous post someone mentioned the Tesco deal which worked out at about the same price - and to get loads of tesco points/vouchers to get the deal,YOU, might have to resort to buying them from e-bay ( what goes around comes around)
    5) As Helix has said, if you have the time, and means VISIT these stores and check the shelves yourself - I had to hunt them down, because even the staff didn't know where they were !!

And Good luck. We all hope you find some, we have all probably been in a similar position of chasing after an elusive bargin.:(
Let us know if you have any luck:hello:

I tend to think of unemployed people on benefits making money for themselves and not paying any income tax on their earnings as a "trader". One I saw selling these on Ebay claimed to be an ebay trader for 2 years, so it seems all they have done for 2 years is bought up bargains to sell on on ebay.
I cleared my local Halfords, but I have 2 kids who need them

I managed to get to 4 stores. Cleared one, one had none and the other 2 I left some for other people.
    Re Staff buying for themselves
I have no problems with staff spotting bargains and shoving them in the locker etc so long as its not for Ebay.

In 2 stores I went in there was an area with maps and camping equipment, then close to this a "learner driver" section with books etc and these kits. In the 1 store they were in a bargain basket at the store entrance. In 2 stores they definitely had more out back.

Could be worth going to the stores with the product codes so they can check on the system?

I really didn't want to respond to this thread and end up being personally attacked, but to be honest some of the comments made (including a link to my auction) have really started to stress me and my partner out, so I feel that I now need to.

Basically, I am the seller on the auction quoted and as much as it really isn't anyone's business and I shouldn't have to post this for the world to see, we are a young family on a low income, and we do have quite a lot of debt. My partner is currently a stay at home mum and has suffered from severe depression since the birth of our daughter, but is unable to claim any kind of benefit as I work, and so she uses eBay as a way of making a bit of extra money. We don't make thousands upon thousands of pounds selling stuff on there but the extra money we do make from eBay definitely helps towards the bills. We are also in the process of moving house as a tiny 1 bedroom flat isn't really suitable for 2 adults and a 2 year old, so money is pretty scarce at the moment.

As for the driving lessons, I originally bought my partner 30 driving lessons as a present as where we live, she really needs to be able to drive to get around and this seemed like a great opportunity as we haven't been able to afford driving lessons before. As she has driven my car a few times and feels quite confident driving, she suggested that maybe we should put 10 of them on eBay to get some of the money back that I spent on them - we never thought we would end up being attacked for it!!

'Anewman' - I figured out from your comments on this thread that you are also 'thatdudeuk' on eBay as well as 'halfordssellcheaper' - why on earth did you feel the need to post what you've posted and bidding on my auction (which will as a result cost us more eBay fees), without finding out the facts first?? I can see from your previous posts that you hate anyone making money on eBay without paying income tax which is fair enough, but surely it would've been better to contact us and find out the facts before tarring everyone with the same brush?!?

Lastly, 'The Old Bag', thank-you for actually posting something positive and realising that there are two sides to every story. It's a shame more people don't think the same way as you do before they take action.

I can't believe people on this board are pathetic enough to sabotage an auction just because they do not agree with it.

Perhaps some people on here need to get out a bit more and see there is a bigger world outside with real issues.

Gem+Dave+Kaci - good luck to you, I've done what you are doing many times. If i see a bargain I actually need then I will buy it. If there is a chance I can buy two to recoup my initial spend by selling one on ebay then I will. Infact a year ago I bought from Argos 2 Dysons, kept one and sold the other on eBay. I got mine free and the buyer also got a good deal. Everyone was happy.

Personally I wouldn't have posted here to justify my actions, but I am also glad you did to point out the spineless vindictive posters that lurk here!

Moving away from the original topic unfortunately so do not read if you're only interested in Halfords vouchers.
Lastly, 'The Old Bag', thank-you for actually posting something positive and realising that there are two sides to every story. It's a shame more people don't think the same way as you do before they take action.

There are two sides but there are better ways of doing things. Some people use very similar excuses when they go to their local car boot sales to sell counterfeit DVD's but it doesn't usually stop them serving custodial sentences for the selling of counterfeit DVD's when they get caught. If someone is able to do all thats needed to sell on ebay, going to buy the things you want to make money on, making a listing (and doing so in order to maximise profit), pack things, go to post office, manage the money, handle e-mails and take action when things go wrong etc surely this indicates ability to work.

This world is turning to a free for all. People spend their day sat trying to buy tickets for concerts they don't want to go to just to make money from selling the tickets on. People buy driving lessons without wanting any lessons, just to make money to sell them on. This leaves people who can pay the "ebay mark up" getting the tickets and the ebay seller making money and (often) not paying income tax - and your average hard working person paying income tax who wanted to go to a concert to see an artist they want to see unable to go, because someone who couldn't be bothered to work wanted a few quid.

The main thing that interested me in that auction I posted a link to was the fact the "Halfords" logo had been removed from the picture. Presumably the seller was concerned someone may go to halfords and see them cheaper, or look on the halfords website and see how much they could get them for and not pay over the odds to the seller (in fact over full price).

WONDERFUL post thank you very much.

Unfortunately we live in a democracy where people have to pay income tax.

Don't think you would be as happy if someone had bought all of them to sell on Ebay and you couldn't get any.
