It really is an ongoing struggle for many of us, particularly if you do have an addiction to certain food (chocolate) or drink (wine) which you have always used to manage stress and uncomfortable emotions.

I agree with Consultant, you just have to keep plodding on. After all it's the belief that one has reached ones goal and can therefore now relax and start eating "normally" that will get us back to square one and I am living proof of that folks!! :)

I am going it alone due to work commitments and have found my greatest ally is ditching the scales at home and using someone else's for a weekly weigh in. The scales dominated my life before. If I had a loss I was elated. A day later I would appear to have a gain and my day would be coloured by that. My weight could fluctuate by 4-5 lbs in a day, none of which is a true picture.

I am going more by the feeling of my clothes loosening and feeling lighter in myself.
I think it is only that feeling of the fat disappearing that I can really trust.

Good luck everyone - we are all in this together, comfort eaters, takeaway sneakers, and the odd saint among us. We get knocked down, but we get up and keep on going!!!

hi everyone, I've never posted to this thread before but I've been looking for the past couple of weeks to get some slimming hints and tips. I've been a SW member since May and have lost 2 stone so far, got one more stone to go. Lost 2lbs last night but for the past 2 months, it's been terrible, holidays and small gains but even slower coming back off!!!

Will be sticking too 100% until Christmas. :)

Hope everyone has a great slimming day! Emma x

    Hi Larmy,
What an inspirational post, you have just lifted my spirits this grey morning (and I'm sure loads of other people reading this thread)!
I have been guilty of compulsive scale abuse this last week (ok since I started SW over a year ago!) and despite being 100% last week and losing 3lbs, this week I have been 100% again and it looks as though I have lost just 1/2 - 1lb (WI night tonight), but I do "feel slimmer" which is an odd balance.
Either way, I love the mixture and variety of food which is free on SW and on the whole is my "mind" is fixed in the right place, I find the food very satifying and staying within 10-15 sins a day is no problem. It's only when the emotional reaction to something happens that I need to lock away the crisps and cheese!

The support on this thread is amazing!

    Morning everyone

Consultant - you are brilliant :A

I have been having a number of 100% days...because I have a stomach bug and don't feel like eating that much :rotfl:

About the scales issue - I know I've posted this before so apologies - but the BEST THING I ever did was to throw away my bathroom scales. I was obsessed with them - the classic 'get on them everytime you go to the bathroom' thing - that was me. It was unhealthy (in my case) and meant my mood was controlled by the numbers that came up. I now weigh myself when I go to the gym - its much better for me (and quite a good motivator, cos if I really want to know how my weight is doing - I have to go and exercise!);)
Onward and upward - with the odd step to the side

I'm starting to think I'm a bit weird! Lots of people here and an another board I visit are talking about 100% days and managing a run of x or y 100% days. For me every day should be 100%! In the 11 months it took me to get to target I could count on one hand (and still have fingers left) the number of days where I didn't follow the plan to the letter.

But I don't want it to rule my life!!! If I have 6 100% days in a week and go over my sins by 5-10 on the 7th day, I don't see that as a bad thing. It's still better than life pre SW!
  • Hi!
I didn't realise there was a slimming world thread on here! I was just searching the net and guess where it brought me?! Hope you don't mind me joining in. I have been doing sw for 5 weeks and have lost 11lbs so I am pleased. I was searching because I wanted to know how to make the tortilla chips out of lasagne sheets. well i found the recipe but the site i found it on had a debate on wether or not they had a syn value? what do you all think? I assumed on green/ extra easy they would be free? i was thinking of a saturday night snack with cucumber/carrot crudites and a salsa dip. help!

Okies - well most fish is a speed food so that's a good start ;)

Success Express (is actually a lot like EE now I look at it!!!!)
at each meal fill 2 thirds of your plate with Superfree foods and the other third of your plate with foods free on Original & Green
    Have 2 HEb's and 1 or 2 HEa's from either Green/Original lists
    Snack only on Superfree foods
(Before anyone had heard of EE this was always suggested to be used when losses were struggling)

It's supposed to be very good for weightloss as it gets you eating lots of superfree veggies/salad/fruits!

Or Mix 2 Max (maybe not so easy but possible to use your fish to the max!)
But at each MEAL choose red or green! Focus on free food power. Have HE's as above plus syns.

sorry haven't been here for days...been busy, my DD turned 10!

I did a 100% day yesterday & am on track for today. Have written off Tues as a bad day as ate loads of bad things as DD had a birthday tea!

    Thank you for the help

i'm with you on that, to me sw is about making the right food choices and every once in a while you make choices that may not be right for slimming world but are right for the occasion. if i was 100% all the time i would not have stuck to the plan but the odd flexy syns day really does help keep you motivated.

You can go for them, but under SW rules they are classed as a misuse of free foods. Basically no 'non-SW person' would use lasagne sheets as crisps and they're not there for that purpose. However, if you have them and they don't seem to affect your weightloss then go for it, but if it does then you know what it is!
  • i wish they would stop selling wispa golds, they are soo nice and 13.5syns! no more syns for me today!
